definitely necessary, but you won't notice a huge difference. I've been working with a single weight for almost a year now and have had no problems. this add on makes it a little easier on your hands, but not much. looks cool, does it's job, but u don't really need two weights unless your working with a quality build mattebox.

Without this Add-on weight, my rig would probably be front heavy. Which would not make for good run and gun while in production.

If you have a counter balance kit then you need to get 2 weights. It is crazy how much it helps in terms of balance and overal control. It takes a lot of pressure of of your hands and arms so I think it's a must have
