Lowepro Pro Runner 450 AW Backpack
The Lowepro Pro Runner 450 AW Backpack (Black) is designed to carry and protect a Pro digital SLR camera with attached lens (up to 300mm f/2.8) plus 4-6 lenses or flash, accessories, laptop with a screen up to a 17", tripod or monopod and personal items. It can also hold a notebook computer with a screen up to 17". It is made from weather-resistant 600 denier square rip-stop polyester with a padded interior plus removable, padded inserts and adjustable dividers. The pack has an All Weather AW Cover that protects the camera gear from the elements. It also has rain flap lids that covers the zippered closure and offers added weather protection. There is a Hideaway Tripod Mount with foldout holder that secures a compact tripod or monopod. The SlipLock attachment loops will allow the addition of optional accessories. The backpack is carried by a durable rubber grab handle or adjustable, thickly padded shoulder straps with 5 adjustment points.

I've only used this backpack for a few days, but I can already tell I'm going to get a lot of use out of it.
There are a few different reasons I needed a bag like this. First, I work as a Camera Assistant on TV/video shoots, and this bag has more than enough room for any camera accessories I would need, including: batteries, spare lenses, tapes, monitors, etc. It even fits my DVX100 with no problem.
My secondary use for this backpack is carrying around a DSLR kit with extra lenses and a laptop, all of which fits with more than enough room to spare. I can even add in an external hard-drive amongst other things.
It's pretty much at the upper limit of airline specified sizes for carry-on luggage, so it shouldn't be a problem for air travel, although I haven't tried this yet. Also, the first day I worked with it we were stuck out in the rain, but the pull-out rain cover kept this bag dry with no problem.

Its well built and the AW cover works well but it just doesn't work for me.

I bought this back pack after using various shoulder bags for 20+ years. The bag and equipment weighed in at 17 lbs. I decided I would be better off to distribute the weight over two shoulders instead of one. One of my better decisions. Carries all my equipment, feels very comfortable, and offers easy access to my gear. I usually include two camera bodies with lenses attached. A Canon 7D and T2i with a 17-40 and 70-300 attached. Also carry a 100mm macro and 28mm. Also have lens hoods for all lenses, a rocket blower, remote release, and I put my light diffuser in the area intended for lap tops. I have used it couple of times now on long hikes and do not intend to use shoulder bags again. This pack is highly recommended.

just took a hike up the rockies with this backpack and compared to my old one;this pack beats it hands down .Te great things about this pack is the wide,thick hip belt and the padded shoulder straps,the accessiblility to you gear and lots of room for extras.The tripod cup i can not use so i slipped it through the slots and tied it with the straps,tripod too big

I was looking for an alternative to my large shoulder bag and this is just what I was looking for. This is a big bag but I'm a working pro and carry a lot of gear. I'm also 6'3" 210 lbs and can handle the size and weight. I'm afraid a smaller bag would have pinched and bound. I like the single compartment design; unzip the back, flip open the back and all the gear is right there. I've taken it out on a half dozen jobs so far and it looks like a winner.

Overall I really like this bag - it's simple to get in and out of, the storage was clearly designed first and foremost for a camera (no modular system with 18 different ways to arrange compartments - none of which are quite right), and the straps & harness are all solid without being over the top. I also like that it's fairly discreet (it doesn't scream "camera here... come get it"). Finally I can say that it fits just about (with a good shove) perfectly in an airline overhead storage bin!
My one complaint is that the bag is FAT; it's just really really thick. I get it, they want to be able to stand longer lenses vertically, but I still think they could have knocked a solid inch or two off, and still had plenty of room.
All that in mind I think this is a really nice bag, and certainly one of the more comfortable big bags I've seen.

The bag is awesome and has the quality one would expect from Lowepro: good material, good zippers, comfortable straps. I took it on a internal flight (Mexico) as a carry-on luggage no problem. But it is bigger than I expected though and I'm wondering how I'll manage to take it on a bus, for example.

Easily the beast backpack I've had to own. I'm able to carry my 5dmkII gripped, my 7d gripped, and 4-5 lens comfortably in this bag. The construction is great and everything is well padded. I'd highly recommend this bag to a friend!

Its big enough to hold my 5D mkII, 24-70mm, 70-200mm, 50mm.
Three 580 EXII flashes, Two Quantum Turbo SC + Slim battery packs.
15in Macbook Pro and battery chargers for camera, flash, computer and all cables need with room for more.
In fact if I need to transport more gear I would rather use two bags, one for camera gear the other for lighting ect.

this bag would be great for storing all of your gear in one spot. fully loaded, it is heavy and quite cumbersome. if you want to transport all your gear somewhere then use a smaller bag to carry around what you need, this is your bag. if you want this large baby... go for the x450 as it has wheels and a handle.

I'm using a 300mm f/2.8 lens which fits well in this bag along with the camera and 1.4x extender. Can also keep my external hard drive and binoculars in the compartment. Wish though it was a little bit longer. Computer space is a bit too tight but with a smaller laptop that should be fine.

I took a long time to research the kind of Backpack I needed for overseas travel. I owned both a Lowpro that was too small for all my equipment and a Tamrac that was too large for carry-on. This fit my Canon 7D with three lenses total (including a 70-200 with attatched hood) with room for my flash, angled eyepiece, batteries, filters, other hoods, laptop, etc... and lots of room to spare. Sturdy, reliable. I would recommend this product.
