With the Canon WP-V2 waterproof case for the Canon Vixia HF M31, Vixia HF M30 and Vixia HF M300 you can use your flash memory camcorder to take underwater video at depths of up to 130' (40m). Of course it's also ideal for taking worry-free footage in the rain, at the beach, or on the ski slopes.
The camcorder and housing is ideal for capturing both video and photos underwater. The camcorder even has a special underwater scene mode. This is the same as putting an orange filter over the lens. This will correct the blueish color cast giving you true color underwater.

Comments about Canon WP-V2 Case:
The wp-v2 is a very user-friendly housing, durable and its biggest advantage is its ease of transport and maneuver it. Maintenance is very simple. I used the wp-v2 with the Canon HF M32 but also I've used the Canon HF 21, I just replaced the original shoe wp-v2 for a piece of foam cut to size and it worked perfectly. The image quality obtained was excellent and very pristine in all conditions.

Comments about Canon WP-V2 Case:
I haven't taken this underwater yet, but I did put the camcorder in it to make sure it fits. It's perfect! The only downside is that I wish the screen controls were available underwater. Once in the housing, those controls are only available with the remote for the camcorder.

Comments about Canon WP-V2 Case:
I am a freelance videographer/cinematographer working for TV networks. I used 3rd party providers for camcorder. So far this is for me a very practical and affordable casing compared to other 3rd party casings. Even with limited controls, I still get the chance to use the most important controls there is for uw cinematography.. If only there was a control for the touch screen mode it would have been a 5+star for me

Comments about Canon WP-V2 Case:
I use this underwater case as a light easy to transport and set up backup to my digital SLR camera. It fits in a carry on case and is very easy to use and produces great footage.
For the price of the case Canon should have included the counter weight to control the case floating upward as you are shooting

Comments about Canon WP-V2 Case:
When looking for a camcorder, one of my requirements was for it to be waterproof.
I am pleased with the ease of use and the functions available on the outside of the housing. You can control the zoom, on/off, record and the still photo functions. The housing also will accommodate the larger Canon battery. The depth rating is great, 130Ft! So it's perfect for the pool to SCUBA, or even a little rain.
The camcorder comes with a function to "orange" the picture so that underwater filming will be compensated as if there was an underwater filter, so no external filter is needed.
The size is just slightly bigger than the camcorder so it is on the small side and not very obtrusive. You do need to attach the supplied base plate to the camcorder and then slide it into the housing for it to be alligned properly.

Comments about Canon WP-V2 Case:
I bought this because I got an HF 200 camcorder and they were out of stock for the WP-V1. I took a chance that it would fit and luckily it does, but I had to modify the base plate and it doesn't fit perfectly, but it works. I like it, it does what it's supposed to do.
Three comments / suggestions:
- make a lens cover to protect the front glass from scratches when not in use.
- they could easily make this backwards compatible with the HF 200 by offering a second base plate, and only increasing the price very marginally. Alternatively, Canon should make both housings available at the same time.....
- Canon should make a microphone port for this housing. I will be using it mostly for kayaking and light snorkeling, and in the rain. In this case I want to speak into the camera and record the sounds, but I can't while using this housing. It wouldn't be too difficult for them to add a sealable plug for an external microphone for uses above water. Or they could make two versions, one more expensive than the other. I will have to instead find some other way to shield the camera from water, which is unfortunate. I don't want to shell out the dollars for an ultra expensive third party housing just so I can plug in a mic.
