Really enjoyable and simple MIDI controller. Not that mmany of extra features (pads, faders, knobs..) but worth the purchase if you want to have a great and usefull range of notes. Works really well!

I love this keyboard controller Alesis q49. I used it with my Propellerhead softwares. I some how kind of drop it a few times traveling and now its not working. It sure enough took a few bangs. I will buy another today. Peace and love.

I first plug the keyboard to the computer and found the above defects. This experience was familiar when I used a cheap model under different brand after a few years. My Yamaha model has been 100% functional for 9 years. This is just too much for a newly bought merchandise. Well, I must be fair. I bought an Alesis sound module and has been using it for almost 10 years without a problem. The subject keyboard is really disappointing.

It took me a bit to figure out how to get it working, but now it's great through my Garage Band. Taking lessons online and having the keyboard in front of my computer is a dream.

Use it with PC amd Mac Computers.Works perfectly.Not expensive, right size, maps itself instantly. Looks and sounds great.Just be aware -the keys are light but of very pleasent feel. I also bought for second Mac computer M-Audio Keystation 88 ES,which is really good too. But as all M- Audio products - lacks in aesthetic department ,I like Alesis more.

i needed a controller that now only could i use on a gig, but that i could also take in bed at note and write...this is the keyboard i needed...i compared other keys and how they felt and the Alesis had the best and softest feel 2 me...very relaxed action and easy 2 play...no other junk needed...gave me an octave button and also the "data" slider i can use as a volume knob 2 my sounds...remember this is just a controller, it comes with no sounds programmed in it...also enjoyed the fact that the USB supplies the power, so no AC is needed when plugged into your computer...i'm jammin on it right now![...] super great site...have spent much time and well spent coin on here...have fun and make some music!

This item replaces an old Roland D5 synthesizer that I was using as a MIDI controller. I wanted something I could put directly between my computer keyboard and the monitors and this fits the bill nicely. I use this with FL studio and am quite pleased with it. I use it in USB mode along with an Akai compact drum pad and they work very well.

Im a guitarist and use a home studio who is recently getting into more computer based programs and needed a midi controller. simple enough right? Well Ive used a sr-16 for years and liked alesis but I also considered a few other brands. Though some have reviewed the q49 with less than stellar comments I have found it to be awesome. I wanted to use with the Dave Smith Tetra. Had to connect via MIDI so I had to look for a power supply. The unusual size of the power supply barel makes it a pain. I tried plugging it in with a couple different ones but it got too annoying so I just returned it. I would recommend it if you want to use it via USB because of its simplicity and price.
