The VideoTrack from Alesis is a compact and convenient recorder that captures high-quality video and audio at a moment's notice, perfect for capturing all of life's little moments. The VideoTrack has a quality video lens and advanced DSP image processing technology, allowing you to record video as well as still images. The recorder uses standard SD/SDHC flash memory cards and has a USB port for easy connection to a Mac or PC. This makes it easy to upload your videos to social media websites such as Facebook and YouTube.
The VideoTrack employs high-quality stereo condenser microphones, the same ones found in the Alesis ProTrack iPod recorder. The VideoTrack is easy to use, thanks to the large display screen and 5-way control system. A video output jack lets you connect the unit to a TV, while a headphone jack lets you review videos privately. The VideoTrack can operate via its built-in rechargeable battery, or by AC power. A threaded tripod mount lets you attach a table stand or camera tripod for hands-free recording.

Comments about Alesis VideoTrack Handheld Audio and Video Recorder:
The product is easy to set up, be it handheld, or on a tripod. The video image is not great, but it's good enough for beginners. The sound quality makes up for everything else it may be lacking. As a still picture camera, not worth the bother. But I'm happy with my purchase. I bought it as a gift for my husband and he's enjoying it.

Comments about Alesis VideoTrack Handheld Audio and Video Recorder:
An abslolute piece of garbage...worst video image that you could ever imagine...sound quality is marginal. I noticed that they have lowered the street price to [$]...well, that's about [$] more than it is worth. Wish I could get my money back...I spent [$] for it three months ago, thinking "It's made by Alesis'...it's got to be good." Well, guess again.
Comments about Alesis VideoTrack Handheld Audio and Video Recorder:
I bought this as a present for my non-tech oriented mother. It was too complicated for her and ended up staying with me. The video does very well in low-light situations and I was impressed with the resolution. The still camera was not so hot, tending to look more like a screen cap than an actual photo. Sound wise, it was good enough to pass for semi-pro. The high, medium, and low sensitivity did allow it more control than most hand held recorders I've experienced <500 USD. That being said, HML does not offer many choices for extremes of sensitivity needs, and it did peak out several times during a 110dB concert. The compact XY microphone setup does give some impression of stereo field, good for it's compact size limitations.I like that it fits on a microphone stand. Other competitors wouldn't have been so thoughtful. The USB connection is in a odd location, so charging and downloading cannot be done at the same time. Minor ergonomics flaw. For the price and size it's a good addition to an existing line up or an entry level looking to upgrade. It is not for newbies or techophobes looking for point and shoot and will disappoint higher-end users looking for better+ quality.

Comments about Alesis VideoTrack Handheld Audio and Video Recorder:
The VT is a simple to operate camcorder with "above average" sound quality. I noticed that the VT gets many mixed reviews online and I honestly think that a lot of it is because the user guide is so minimal-not to mention how small it is to read. I have downloaded the user guide from the internet which came in PDF format, that allowed me to see it without going blind. Now for the details: You need to connect the headphones after you turn on the VT, and not after you record cause you will not hear the recorded audio in both sides. Many costumers thought that that is because one of the mics is a defect, so the VT records only in mono. I wish Alesis would also tell us that you have to transfer files to iMovie using only the original size, or the program will crash..even Apple could not figure this out, but that should be Alesis job to print on the VT user guide.I cannot complainn about the VT overall quality, keeping in mind that it is a very simple interface to manage. I also thought that the VT's construction is rather sturdy, but the ultralight weight of this camcorder could raises some questions regarding it's overall street price, which should be lower. All in all I got what I need: easy drag and drop so I can post my playing on Youtube with no rippers or converters, while the sound is better than my older camcorder. Alesis really sacrificed their name and reputation because of this product and that's a shame.
