Whether you're shooting with a tiny consumer camcorder, a video DSLR, or an ENG-style camera and 35mm lens adapter, this kit not only increases the stability of handheld shooting, it provides new levels of flexibility to how you shoot.
The shoulder pad and two rubberized handgrips can be adjusted in nearly any configuration along the included handlebar rods and 18" carbon fiber support rods. And with the addition of a Redrock microMount (not included), the rods can be used to support a host of accessories, from articulating arms to external monitors, batteries and portable hard drives.

I used this to shoot a short film over two days, and I must say that I found very little to complain about. The most common problem I find when shooting with a DSLR is the appearance of micro-vibrations in the footage when shooting hand-held. This device eliminates those micro vibrations almost completely (depending also on the camera operator of course), and allows you to adjust focus mid-shot with reasonable ease. The only thing that is missing from this, and which should almost be included is a weight plate. Even one weight would make it more balanced, and make a difference in how much energy is spent on balancing the rig on your shoulder. Also, this will help when shifting grip from two to one hand, taking out at least some of the wobble. Otherwise, I use this at work, as well as for my own projects and think its a wonderful, functional, good-looking product.

If the prices for these things weren't so high this would be a five star product. Once you figure out what all the complicated little parts are that you need (even if you're buying a "bundle") you'll be spending a lot of money. Be careful with this item as it is sometimes [...] represented as including two micro clamps. You only get one. The other one is not cheap if you can even get it. The manufacturer will tell you it'll only take a 3-4 months to fulfill your order for the part that's not included (but is currently in the photograph). They may not apologize. Who do they think they are? Other than that, it is well made.

Comments about Redrock Micro microShoulderMount Deluxe Bundle:
Though it is Expensive and sometimes becomes cumbersome to use it really is a must have for handheld shooting on DSLR, especially is you use other attachments that add to your rigs weight or balance. Offers a good amount of space for new attachments and placement of those attachments.

Comments about Redrock Micro microShoulderMount Deluxe Bundle:
This product is probably one of the best shoulder mount bundles you can get while not having to get those extra items such as a monitor or follow focus straight from RedRock Micro too. This is the bare necessity for what you should have as an independent filmmaker. You will need to get a base plate separately to mount your camera which is misleading for beginners and if you find your camera setup too heavy, you will also need the counterweight kit. All in all, best product I've bought on this site. Cheers to RedRock Micro!

If you're using this with a camcorder, I recommend a second rod clamp so you can move the camera forward. Using a Panasonic HVX200 P2 camera. Shot two projects this weekend. Much steadier than trying to hand hold the camera. Shot two interviews with the shoulder mount and by staying close to subject was able to get steady picture.

Comments about Redrock Micro microShoulderMount Deluxe Bundle:
I am using the product for independent feature film. I wanted to shoulder mount the camera. Used with Zeiss CP2 primes, which are front heavey, need the counterbalance for sure, I have a HDV 501 tripod, which doesn't seem to accept the shoulder mount, unless you put a plate on it which then defeats the purpose. I found even with a counter balance shoulder pad had to slide forward on the rails to be effective which put the lense changes at risk to be a whole resetup because the shoulder rig mount is so far forward on the rails. I.E. Put a longer lens on it, may not be able to fit the follow focus or a side mount rail on it easily.
I now know I would prefer a longer grip more Zacuto style vs. just the handgrip. I think with the rig I set up this would be more ergonomic.
After use, I woul personally opt for a steadicam to get any walking shots. In my opinion this is only really useful for stand in one place and pan, tilt, whatever, but it becomes unrealistic to do it for any period of time unless you grab a seat. I expected walking shots to be better with this device, but that may have been my error.
Product is well made. A offset is a must if you are using a EVF for more than 5 minutes. Put a monitor on it and a heavy lense and you have a front heavy rig, likely needs the basic and the additional counterweight to balance on a tripod.
When pulling focus with a monitor, you only have two point contact ( vs. with a evf), which makes single operation focusing difficulty as the weight of the follow focus will want to make the camera dip left. So to take one hand off and follow focus is impractical unless it is well balanced and to be really well balanced you would need likely a offsset counterbalance especially with a monitor rig.
Hope it helps.

Best shoulder stabilizer or mount that I have owned. Had to order microShoulderMount rod clamp for use with Canon XH-A1 but results I get now are fantastic.

Bought this as the base for a shoulder rig that was built up with several components on top of this. The goal was to create a rig that could easily support HDSLR and pro-video cameras. Worked out amazingly.

Comments about Redrock Micro microShoulderMount Deluxe Bundle:
This is a great rig. That being said you have to buy the DSLR baseplate to make this work with a DSLR. It's a couple hundred bucks more but it is worth it. Otherwise this rig is for a camcorder. Make sure to add the micro mount with spud to attach upfront to allow an LCD monitor to sit right in front of your face for easy focus & framing. Marshall makes a great 7 inch HD unit that works perfect with this rig and a Nikon D7000. Also, if you want to be able to attach it to a tripod fluid's head you should get the cheese plate with a rod clamp otherwise, while it will connect to your tripod without one the connection is a single point and not sturdy enough (the bottom of the shoulder mount has a dovetail plate that will connect to a Manfrotto fluid head (it works perfect with the 503HDV) so adding the cheese plate allows you to connect it with 2 screws to the fluid head's quick release plate. I also added the counter weights to make the units balance better. Overall, even though it needs additional parts to work better, the quality of the material is first rate and well worth it. You get what you pay for!

Comments about Redrock Micro microShoulderMount Deluxe Bundle:
I bought the deluxe bundle and added the optional microMount w/Spud to allow connection of a 7 inch Marshall LCD HD monitor. The quality of the parts is evident upon seeing/holding them. The rig goes together easily even for a mechanically challenged person. I found out too late ( should have done more/better research) that in order to attach a DSLR you need the Redrock Micro DSLR Baseplate. So, I ordered that and it is also a quality piece of gear and works easily and perfectly. Now I am able to connect my Nikon D7000 [with a Beachtek DXA-5DA mounted under it directly] to the rig. The only problem I have is the connection of this rig to a tripod/fluid head. The bottom of the microShoulderMount has a dovetail plate that allows you to connect it to the quick release plate of a fluid head (in my case, the Manfrotto 503HDV) but with a single point of contact it is not as stable as I would like. I could simply remove the camera from the rig and mount it directly on the fluid head via the DSLR Baseplate but I was hoping for a fast way to go from shoulder mounted to tripod. Perhaps one of their Cheeseplates? Also, looks like I will need to purchase the optional "microBalance Counterweight Starter Kit" to take some of the weight of the rig off my arms but it will be worth it. In any event this is a quality piece of gear Made In America and serves a Nikon D7000 very well. And this rig has room to grow as you can afford it.

Comments about Redrock Micro microShoulderMount Deluxe Bundle:
The shoulder mount deluxe bundle is good as a basic handheld kit for 5D - something like this is essential if you're planning to shoot video on one. The Redrock is well made, and easy to use. I've found it useful to have a few additional redrock accessories to add to this kit - such as a V-lock battery plate mounted on a redrock accessory plate (useful as a counterbalance, and for powering monitors etc), a DSLR baseplate and a cine arm for mounting the monitor.

Comments about Redrock Micro microShoulderMount Deluxe Bundle:
I use this rig for my Canon 7D. It's really hard to get a smooth hand held image without one of these rigs (not necessarily Redrock). However, this company makes some very innovative products for the DSLR craze. Products that make your camera work easier and look better. And it becomes hard to stray away from the Redrock Micro line of camera gear.
I was really excited when I got my rig, then really disappointed to find out that the "rod clamp" was easily stripped when I tried to screw the blue nobs in. It didn't feel like it should fit in the screw, but I turned the nob anyway. Then it wouldn't tighten. Turns out the thing was defective.
I had to send the product back, which ended up being a 50 day ordeal. And the shipping/repair department at Redrock would RARELY get back to my numerous emails and phone calls wondering where my product was. It was infuriating. BE CAREFUL WHEN BUYING THIS PRODUCT!

Very well build and designed. I just wish that the accessories were cheaper. I can't wait until EVF would be available because it would cut down on the accessories that I need to buy.

This is a very solid piece of equipment but need to buy it together with the counterweight or you will spend few days complaining about back and shoulder pain by the way (jag35 or thecinecity sells counterweight cheaper than redrockmicro). also in my experience it shouldnt be use without the counter weight cause it will be very unstable.
