This lens is simply in a class of its own. The macro shots i get from this rich in detail, shot wide open, with just the most inspiring bokeh. Get it if you can...

Comments about Zeiss Makro-Planar T* 100mm f/2 ZE Lens for Canon EF Mount EOS DSLR Cameras:
I don't normally write reviews of any kind, but if you are reading this then I assume you are considering buying this lens. I read the reviews, but never trusted them in the past; I went onto google and check out images taken with this lens. I will recommend you do the same. [type in the lens's name and click on images].
They all looked very good yet; I was not convinced till I came to the coin photograph. It was a comparison between this lens and a canon L. The Zeiss was far superior.
I have read so much about it, that when I opened he box; I carried it like a little baby. A few shots round the bedroom in low light was unbelievable. I must have clicked camera buttons over 200,000 times, but when I looked at the first image that jumped off this lens in the dimly lit bedroom in Orlando. I could not believe it. I said this is not possible; I had to jump off the bed, go round the house taking pictures. The results were amazing.
The next day I got on my bike; yes a stupid thing to do; knowing how expensive the lens was; but I knew there is no way on earth this baby will drop. I took many pictures around the neighbourhood; they were all stunning. Yes, all.
The lens is so easy to use; focus at infinity, if you aren't sure for the first few times you uses it; this is a no brainer; then you can adjust depending on what you need to be in focus. At macro level; it is better to place it on a tripod; the bokeh is beautiful.
It will bring a new dimension to your photography be it landscape, portraits or macro. This is not one of the best lenses in the world no matter what you hear. This is the best lens in the world. Nothing compares to it - a sheer beauty of pure glass.
I shot some video on a DSLR with it too; it is amazing. This lens alone is pulling me into the world of video/cinema – it is that good.
I think is the only lens if only one remained in the world; it could be sold with the slogan – 'if you do not like it, return and we will give you double your money back'. There will be no takers; mine has not left my side since the day I bought it.

I've just began to use this "bad boy". Anyone tells you a lens will not make a difference, tell them to tryout a Craig lens and stand back.
So far the clarity, definition etc etc etc is beyond belief, this is my second CZ and so far it super exceeds expectations.

Comments about Zeiss Makro-Planar T* 100mm f/2 ZE Lens for Canon EF Mount EOS DSLR Cameras:
I own a Zeiss 21mm lens and that blew me away with absolute edge to edge sharpness and clarity / resolution/ colour / punch. On the strength of this I recently bought the 100mm and it is also a stunner. Sharp, excellent resolution, challenging depth of field that I am still getting used to but most of all, it is a manual focus lens and you actually feel like you are engaging in making a photograph when you see the selective focus change at your control. It is engaging to use and delivers fabulous images. Purchased from B&H who delived it to me in Australia in record time to the door.

Comments about Zeiss Makro-Planar T* 100mm f/2 ZE Lens for Canon EF Mount EOS DSLR Cameras:
Fenomenal separation of objects from the background. Top performance at f2.o
This lens is very easy to focus (don't confuse with the speed of focusing). I prefer this lens for portraits over the Canon's f1.2 lenses. Very versatile thanks to the close focusing capability. I used Hasselblad lenses, Nikon lenses, Canon L lenses and I think that this is the most optically perfect lens I used. That's why 5 stars. The only flaw is the mount of the lens. The bayonet is not perfectly matching my Canon 5D MKII mount and has some movemenet when mounted. Not affecting the photographs, but should be addressed by Zeiss' quality control.

I am a portrait photographer. I use my Zeiss lens to get razor sharp photographs of all my subjects. The lens works beautifully with my Cannon EOS and takes a clear picture every time.

Comments about Zeiss Makro-Planar T* 100mm f/2 ZE Lens for Canon EF Mount EOS DSLR Cameras:
One of the best 100mm macro on the planet. On par or better than the legendary Leica APO-Elmarit-R 100mm f2.8. Beautiful bokeh and long throw focus for precise adjustment. The only problem is the cost of this lens, but you will get over it once you had the lens in your hand and fall in love with it.

Comments about Zeiss Makro-Planar T* 100mm f/2 ZE Lens for Canon EF Mount EOS DSLR Cameras:
I spent a lot of time debating purchasing either this lens or the 85/1.2L II. I've been slowly building my primes collection to supplement my f2.8 Canon L zooms and currently own what many consider the best of the Zeiss ZE/ZF line (21/2.8, 35/1.4, 50/2 MP, 100/2 MP).
The 100/2 MP is considered by many to be legendary and once you purchase this lens you'll see why. Excellent sharpness/contrast wide open and some of the smoothest bokeh I've ever seen along with that signature Zeiss look. Construction quality is top notch (although I'm not a big fan of metal lens hoods... minor quibble). It's also reasonably lightweight all things considered.
I also own the Canon 135/2L and while it's a great lens (and I do plan to keep it because of the super quick AF) optically the Zeiss is superior.
If you're looking for a fantastic portrait lens, look no further.

After a disappointing experience with the Canon 100 IS Macro I went looking for a better lens. This is the reference lens for DSLR cameras. Beautifully made and with bokah that is gorgeous. I am completely satisfied and this lens has me thinking about adding other Zeiss lenses.

Comments about Zeiss Makro-Planar T* 100mm f/2 ZE Lens for Canon EF Mount EOS DSLR Cameras:
This lens is built like a tank and a joy to use. Very smooth manual focusing and a nice 'throw' to achieve accurate focus.
Detail and sharpness is amazing. The only downside is a bit more color fringing than I might have expected in the out of focus areas that is not easily cleaned up in post. Small price to pay for the benefits though.

Technically this would be the best lens I have ever used.
Tack sharp to the edge and out performs all my Canon lenses by quite a margin.

Comments about Zeiss Makro-Planar T* 100mm f/2 ZE Lens for Canon EF Mount EOS DSLR Cameras:
I have been using the 100 2.0 for a week now and all I can say is wow. I believe I have found my new favorite lens. I have the 85 1.2 and 135 2.0 (my favorites) and all I can say is the Zeiss blows me away. The Bokeh, color, contrast to my eye is superior to the two Canon lenses I mentioned. The sharpness to my eye better than both . I have not done any objective test just visual comparisons. I have Zeiss lenses for my Hasselblad and have been fascinated by the 3-D look they produce. And this lens is no different. The manual focus does not bother me since I am old enough to remember how. This lens with the Eg-s screen is actually easy to focus. I would recommend this lens if you are contemplating purchasing it. You will not regret it.

Comments about Zeiss Makro-Planar T* 100mm f/2 ZE Lens for Canon EF Mount EOS DSLR Cameras:
Bought this lens over the 85mm 1.4 and am very glad I made the investment.Right away, you can tell the superior build quality and construction of the lens. the focus ring is very smooth. As for Photography, very little if no CA on any pictures, the sharpest lens I've ever used, detail level is gorgeous, color rendition is absolutely beautiful. As mentioned previously in other reviews, this lens, when used PROPERLY, can create masterpieces. It takes practice to get the focus just right, its extreme shallow DOF also takes practice, but you will be rewarded. When used for video/film, this lens also outshines any other lens I've used with the exception of cinema lenses. The reason is the optic quality is the same used in ARRI lenses with different housing. The glass quality results in a much more cinematic, beautiful picture rarely seen in the Canon L or Nikons. If you have [$] to spare and it won't throw you into debt, please give serious thought into this lens. It's become a flagship lens for me and I'm sure it will be so for you as well.

It doesn't get any better than the Zeiss ZE 2/100 Makro Planar lens. It is probably the most versatile lens ever designed. Its performance close up and at infinity is exceptional, its bokeh is pure eye candy, and it is razor sharp when you get the focus right. From portraits to macro to landscape photography, this lens does it all.

Sharp, and has famous Zeiss 3D effect.
It is not intended to be used on anything fast but it is awsome when you take your time to make that shot.
Using it on 5D mkII with EG-S focusing screen

Landscapes. It's a joy to use this lens and its focal length when you need to tightly compose landscapes. I never cared for this focal length until I bought this lens. Now, I am in love..!! This lens is also great for outdoor portraits. It gives you that "3D" look that Zeiss glass is known for. Does macro quite nicely as well. Manual focus is not as difficult as it initially sounds. However, it does take getting used to.
Not inexpensive, but worth its price, in my opinion.
Highly recommend it..!

I sold off two of my Canon L lenses to buy this one, namely: EF 100mm 2.8L IS USM Macro + EF 24-105mm 4L IS USM.Do I regret it? NO....this is lens is pure magic, awesome etc. it is manual focus, but I'm used to that, so that doesn't bother me at all.The canon lenses are sharp but a bit sterile IMHO, this Zeiss lens creates art, this is the best lens I have owned, and I've tried most of the stuff out there.Buy it, you wont regret it :))Here you can find some pic's taken with this great lens :[@]
