This Fujifilm FinePix AV100 12 MP Digital Camera (Silver) is a point and shoot camera loaded with everything you need to make great pictures: a full 12 megapixels of resolution, a 3X 5.7-17mm (35mm equivalent 32-97mm) zoom lens, high resolution 2.7" LCD, up to ISO 3200 and anti-blur image stabilization for low-light photography, face detection (with auto red-eye removal) and much more. Powered by 2 readily-available AA batteries, the AV100 also gives you HD video capability with 720p resolution and sound recording, a panoramic shooting mode, and automatic scene recognition for precise exposures in every situation. Two required AA batteries are included.

You're looking at the world's only sub-$100 point and shoot camera that can record HD video at 24fps.
I purchased this camera for my son for Christmas and we both love it. It's reasonably quick but suffers the slow start up and slow picture taking abilities that for some reason are the bane of all P&S cameras (why??).
Photos are sharp, built-in flash more than adequate, auto scene recognition is great. Simple user interface keeps it clean. HD video is outstanding for the price.
You can't go wrong. Fuji's a great name. This is a great camera for the price. Dare I say "the best sub-$100 P&S you can buy with HD capabilities?" Yes. I dare say.

Non-techie in-laws wanted a simple, INEXPENSIVE camera for a vacation trip that takes good images. After researching and narrowing the field I recommended the Fujifilm camera. Important selling points were the AA batteries and traditionally good Fuji image quality. Also, their insistance on inexpensive meant no image stabilization, so I purposely went for a shorter zoom range to minimize camera shake, and a slightly wider than average wide angle. I was able to set it up and teach them the basics in only a few minutes. They enjoyed the camera and caught some pretty good images, so I'd say it solidly met their requirements. This one would be great for any non-technically minded person looking for a digital camera and would be great for young people too. Hard to beat it for the price.
