The Fujifilm FinePix XP10 12MP Digital Camera (Silver) is a Blast, with a capital B. Sure, it's got 12.2 megapixels, a 5X optical zoom lens (equivalent to 36-180mm on a 35mm camera), a bright 2.7" LCD monitor, high sensitivity up to ISO 1600, image stabilization to prevent shaky pictures, and HD video at 720p resolution.
But what you might find even cooler (besides the choice colors) are the underwater HD video and photos, the beach- and slope-friendly dust-proof, freeze-proof (down to 14°F), shock-proof (up to a fall of 3') brawny can-do attitude of the XP10. It goes where you go, ready to come through with the best pictures and video you can produce, in conditions that would leave most digital point and shoot cameras on the disabled list. Don't leave home without it.

I bought this camera in order to photograph my two young grandchildren at the water park near their home and was amazed at the great results the XP10 produced. The images were very sharp and snappy. The focus and exposure was excellent virtually every time.
I found the shutter lag to be a little slow at times when the grandkids were speeding down the slides but, I quickly learned to pan the camera and follow their movement while pressing the shutter release.
Lastly, I also learned to wipe water drops off the lens so they don't show up as out of focus blurs in the image.
This is a really good camera at a very reasonable price.

If you like taking HD video while on vacation, this camera does a very nice job--leave the vid-cam at home. But if you're in the tropics and want to capture vivid green colors, well, forget about it. Green will show very weak, if not just plain old gray/brown. Even using the landscape or beach scene feature, greens are a no-go. (Blues are reds are just fine.) Focus is hit and miss, and the focus/exposure lock half-push doesn't always seem to hold. The shutter-lag is very slow. Battery life is adequate, but nowhere near that of a Sony "G" series or Casio's NP40. That said, you can feel good about taking pretty good basic snap-shots--even in the rain. The LCD is bright and easy to see, even in bright sunlight. The camera isn't fooled by bright sunshine/underexposure. The lens is in a great spot and there is zero chance of putting a finger or strap in your picture, even if you're in a hurry. Very comfortable to hold. I recommend this camera with reservations, but for the price it's still a good choice.

We got the camera to use mostly in the pool during the summer and for general pictures. The camera works great most of the time, the shutter speed is VERY slow if on Auto, but if put in a selected shooting mode is faster. There are problems with it having water spots in pictures even when the camera is dry? Not sure why that is, and the very first day we got the camera and took it out of the box it started to freeze up on us and not let us do anything, so we had to take th ebattery out and let it sit for a while before trying again. It froze up 3 times, but has worked fine ever since.
Takes great underwater pictures and videos.

Does the job underwater. I just got back from Bermuda but also took and SD1200IS and a Nikon D90. They both have much better pic quality but I'm not swimming with them!
Dynamic range a bit limited and resolution seems a bit lacking. It would probably be better as a 6MP camera. Got great underwater shots.
Great for the price. Battery life about 160 shots. screen very hard to see in bright light.

Wanted a reasonable quality camera to take on holiday that I could use at the beach and pool without having the fear of it breaking if water got into it.
Also thought it would be useful to have when snorkelling in the sea.

I specially bought it to use it as an underwater camera..It's not perfect but you always have to keep in mind the price you're paying for it...My main difficulty with it was the underwater auto-focus...But once the auto-focus is done, you get a pretty decent picture. What's convenient about it is that you can take it anywhere without being too carefull... Example..filming while going down a waterslide...The controls are also pretty small and hard to handle with big fingers...but it's a compact camera, so you can't complain there.

Great product for the money. It did exactly what I expected from a [$] camera. Just used it underwater last week in the carribbean sea and the pics, video and underwater sound came out great. I do recommend a good sd card, a class 4 or above. Decent battery life. Easy to use.

I bought this camera to replace a Pentax underwater camera that broke (leaked). I've always liked the picture quality of Fuji, and decided to try their underwater camera for snorkeling. The pictures I've taken are indeed beautiful, great color, sharpness, etc. and a fast shutter - so important when shooting fish - so I am happy with it. My only complaint is that, although the video quality is good, the sound is almost not there. I miss the richness of the underwater sounds in my fish videos.

I really can't think of anything good to say about this camera. It's the first and last Fuji I will purchase. If you don't hold your breath and stay perfectly still, photos are blurred. The lag time is exhausting and when you try to review your photos, you're subjected to a slide show which takes an eternity. My son did take some photos in the surf which came out cool since the camera could get wet. The price was reasonable, so if you don't expect much, you won't be disappointed.

I bought the camera to use when fishing, kayaking, and for other outdoor activities. My expectation was that it would take decent pictures but stand up to being used in inclement conditions. I have seen numerous "regular" cameras get trashed from getting wet
The camera has taken good pictures outdoors and indoors when there is decent lighting. I took some nice family photos indoors with the camera during the Thanksgiving weekend. When there is low light, the picture quality suffers, but it is still OK. The shutter is a bit slow, but not so slow as to be bothersome. For an outdoor camera, it is well worth the money.

Since I haven't had a chance to use it underwater yet, I only gave it a 4.5. Going snorkeling in a couple weeks, will use it then, stills and video. So far it seems easy to use, good quality pictures, and lots of options I haven't had a chance to play with . . . but I will, soon! First camera I've had that I try to remember to carry with me all the time. The only problem I've had is the sensitivity (or lack of) of the buttons due to the rubber sheathing for waterproof-ness. But then, being able to use it underwater is the exact reason I bought it. Or maybe I should shrink my fingers.

As archaeologist we are called to the field often in not the best cercumstances, and this camera takes great landscape shots and the shock-proof, cold-proof, water-proof is a must. For the cost this is the best!
