International orders*The Visioneer Strobe 500 Mobile Duplex Color Scanner Plus Docking Station is an efficient desktop unit that can scan double-sided documents in B&W in as fast as 30 impressions-per-minute (ipm) and single-sided ones at speeds up to 15 pages-per-minute (ppm) at 200dpi resolution. At the push of a button, the scanner ejects from its docking station to become a full function USB-powered mobile scanner that weighs 2.2 lb (1 kg) so you can take it along with your laptop. The unit's ADF holds 20 pages for both single and duplex batch scanning. The ADF will allow photo scanning at 600dpi. Additionally, this scanner is equipped to scan plastic ID cards, particularly useful for human resource and security departments.
The Strobe 500 comes with an array of productivity software which includes Visioneer OneTouch, a powerful but easy to use utility that connects the buttons on the scanner with scanner settings so that with one touch, the document is scanned automatically to email, or Word, or your printer, or simply a file folder. The Strobe 500 also comes with the amazing Kofax VRS image enhancement technology. VRS allows imperfect originals to be automatically converted into perfect scans. OCR results are dramatically improved, file size is decreased and scans look as clear as the originals. Every page is custom-corrected automatically.
The Strobe 500 can handle all types of documents including contracts, forms, photos, or any other documents of varying size or complexity.

We upgraded from the Strobe 300 and find the Strobe 500 great. It is quicker and can scan multiple items which helps us in our setting. We use it in a Imaging office for scanning the patient's insurance cards, orders, forms etc. We are one step closer to being totally paperless. The machine is relatively easy to set up and scan. The strobe 300 still works well after quite a few years and have moved to another area within the office. Great products.

Not the best scanner in the range. I thought I spent a lot of time researching this purchase and this scanner seemed like the best choice for my receipt scanning needs. Not so good. The ADF is completely passive. Driven with a gear that engages the scanner unit. No paper sensor or anything. The pickup roller is only about 1" wide and in the middle. It seems to get dirty fast, then misfeeds. If you try to feed multi-sized stacks, good luck. sheets usually feed in crooked (but the software does a decent job correcting that). Scans are slow at anything above 200dpi. The 6 preset wheel on the top is non-intuitive. Basically need to remember or write a sticky note reminding what the numbers do. Will not auto-sense duplex, you must choose. Paperport is......ehh. It works, but is overly complicated for very few features. The rest of the software is equally unimpressive. So is everything else it ships with. Confusing to set up. If you are getting a scanner for mass receipts, neat receipts is much better software. I wanted TWAIN drivers to go direct into photoshop every once in a while, but that is not reason enough to go with this scanner alone. If you plan on never detaching this from the adf, you should pass. Plus it's really ugly and cheap looking. Too much a pain to pack back up and return (plus I already cut up the box for the rebate), so I'll probably give it to the kids. If I am missing something here, please let me know. I want to like this scanner, but cannot find reason.

A simple, well-made scanner with just a few basic controls. The vendor (Visioneer) software is a little confusing; however, the PaperPort application software which is included is very powerful and simple to use.

I am scanning four file drawers of genealogy info into my computer. I have a stand alone flat bed scanner and a scanner on my printer. The Visoneer is far away the best I have used. I also have a hand scanner which isn't close.

Comments about Visioneer Strobe 500 Mobile Duplex Color Scanner Plus Docking Station:
A good price for a duplex scanner. Not many instructions, first one must take it apart to remove packing materials, then try to put it back together. It scans nicely. Altho I continually get the prompts, I still can't figure out how to register the supplied paperport software.

Comments about Visioneer Strobe 500 Mobile Duplex Color Scanner Plus Docking Station:
We bought this for a small office to replace our flatbed scanner.
Scanning is A LOT faster, thanks to the sheet feeder and just plain speediness of the machine.
I really like the presets - it has six settings, totally customizable - color, b&w, resolution, scan destination, etc - and choosing one is like picking a station on the car radio. Just pick from 1 through 6 on the scanner's switch.
The sheet feeder works very well, never grabbing more than a single sheet.
The software bundle is generous, but it's a bit confusing having three or four non-integrate programs. The one-button scanning is separate from the OCR which is separate from the file management.
I am happy, I would buy this same model again.

Comments about Visioneer Strobe 500 Mobile Duplex Color Scanner Plus Docking Station:
We needed a flexible and fast duplex scanner and preferred one that could scan cardstock. The manufacturer said that cardstock could be problematic, but so far, maybe 1,000 4x6 cards later, all is well with the auto feeder and the card stock. We get misfeeds less than 5% of the time, and this is good with a duplex scanner anytime. The software suite that comes with the scanner is excellent.

This was an upgrade for me after 5 years using the Visioneer 200 model. It performs the same only faster and I love the multi-sheet feeder. Easy set up...within 15 minutes I was back up and running once I got the 500 model. You cannot go wrong using this for forms, document storage, business card storage, etc.
