The Olympus Stylus Tough-6020, is a compact 14-Megapixel digital camera with a 28mm 5x optical zoom lens designed for people with an active lifestyle. The camera is waterproof to 16' (4.88m), shockproof to 5' (1.52m), and freezeproof to 14°f (-10°c). This makes the camera perfect for beach going, swimming, skiing, climbing, hiking or any other outdoor activity, or tough environment.
Setting the camera for the perfect photo is easy with scene modes that include Beach, Underwater Snapshot, Underwater Wide 1, Underwater Wide 2, Underwater Macro and Pets. Accessing the camera's controls is a snap with Tap Control. This is especially convenient underwater or while wearing gloves.
The camera has features that allow you to capture the action even in low light. Dual Image Stabilization will keep your images sharp, and if the image is better captured in motion, the camera will take HD videos. The 2.7" LCD screen allows you to compose your still and video images and review them after capture. The camera takes SD/SDHC memory cards, but the built-in 1GB of internal memory allows you to take many photographs without a memory card. All of these features make the Olympus Stylus Tough-6020 the perfect camera to take with you when the going gets tough.

Great for playing outside! You can shoot whatever you want with this camera and not worry about ruining it. Playing in the water hose with my nephews was a blast to capture since I could get into the action and not have to explain to them how H2O and Electricity can't mix or it'll cost your uncle $200! HD video is huge plus, I waited for this line of cameras to adopt HD before I would purchase. The exposure has a slow time adjusting in video mode, so shooting in shady areas with bright sunlight popping through makes it look bad half the time. Picture quality is good but low light is not, and the flash mostly washes everything out, unfortunately, you can't adj the flash power, it's all or nothing... bummer. Manual settings are ok besides that, but this isn't a camera for creative people, it's a camera for active and water drawn people. Over all it's been fun. Its size is convenient, not as ugly or bulky as most other WP camera's you'll find.
ps, if you plan on getting it wet, plan on cleaning the lens a lot, it's water proof, but not smudge proof from water-marks.

This camera has a lot of nice features that any casual photography enthusiast will love. To mention some of my favorites: super macro capabilities, the special effects mode, waterproof, freezeproof, and could withstand abuse. Unfortunately, this camera has the slowest focusing ability, very undecided most of the times even above water. In order to get it to focused correctly, I had to press the shutter release a few times before I shoot on P mode. I was very unhappy with my landscape photos, they were all lacking detail even when taken on a bright sunny day. I feel Olympus made this camera super tough but forgot to get two things right: lens sharpness and camera focusing response. However, you will might love this camera if all you do is take posed photos of your friends and loved ones in all kinds of weather. Also the macro mode is one I liked very much. I returned this camera without testing it underwater. Why bother getting it wet when it can't even focused correctly in dry land.

Comments about Olympus Stylus Tough-6020 Digital Camera (Black):
My previous Stylus waterproof camera had gone the way of the dinosaur, and this looked like a good option to replace. I like its styling, and its newer, brighter LCD screen. The presets are nice, though I'm still having a bit of difficulty working on the panorama mode. Does a surprisingly good job in macro mode(s). Once you fiddle with the menus you can make the camera start up pretty fast. It isn't a whiz at working quickly; it's not the camera to take spontaneous events. I use it for scenic and rugged outdoor work and it's great for that. I do wish you didn't have to plug a USB cord into the thing to charge the battery. (It does come with an adapter to allow you to charge the battery without having it hooked up to a computer. And the battery life is very good if you're not using the flash much.) I also am not crazy about the USB cord Olympus likes to use, with the odd five-pin configuration. It means I have to lug along a second USB cord everywhere. I do like that they have switched to SD cards from those dumb xD cards. Images are great, but the menu can be a little funky and takes some time to work through. I'd like to see better, faster response time in the menus choices, and some of the functions in the menus seem illogical to me. But admittedly, for what I'm using it for, it's very good and a very good value. Also shoots really good HD video, though audio is poor, like most of these pocket cameras. I do wish it had capability of shooting RAW as well.

We're going to South America in a couple of weeks and we're going to get wet at Iguazú Falls. We're going in the pool, too. And I hope that I don't drop the Stylus Tough, but if I do, i've heard that it will survive. I compared this to the Canon D10 which is more expensive and much bulkier. My tests so far indicate that there is way less chromatic aberration in my Stylus photos than on recent Canon cameras I've owned or tested.
It's not a super fast camera to operate but I've found with some practice and reading the manual which is a free download from Olympus (I downloaded the pdf and saved it to my iPad as a book... easy! and it will go with me. ) I'm getting better at getting the results I'm looking for. I'm a happy camper and my Stylus can come with me.

Great little camera. Good flash and the optical zoom works great. The one downfall was the focus. Tried to photograph a lacrosse game and it couldn't even focus across the 30 or so yards across the field. It's very useable with a few controls performing multiple functions. Dropped it and then left it in the rain and it still works fine.

This camera was purchased with the underwater case for SCUBA diving because Olympus put alot of marketing effort behind this camera in 2010. Slow power up, slow between pictures, etc... Pictures above water with good light turned out well but underwater pictures didn't turn out to my satisfaction.

I will use this camera as a supplemental to my digital SLR. I like the fact that it is waterproof and shockproof, the pixel depth is exceptional for a point and shoot this small. What is not so great is that I use an Apple and the software is for windows only. Initially, Iphoto did not recognize the camera, but after taking several pictures, that was not an issue. I can use it on my Mac two ways... either through I photo or as an external drive. The picture taking itself is rather delayed, and seems moreso than other digital cameras I have used.

Comments about Olympus Stylus Tough-6020 Digital Camera (Black):
I took a gamble...and won! Before my Bahamas cruise and DisneyWorld trip I decided to NOT take my digital SLR camera (which is great) because of the size. I wanted a camera I could take photos and video with and was small enough that I could stick in a pocket and keep with me at all times (even while snorkeling). After much research I decided on the Stylus Tough-6020 Waterproof Digital Camera by Olympus. It was well worth it! I'm very pleased with the photos and video...also the underwater images and vids I took while snorkeling. I was very nervous about taking it underwater but it worked great! With my 8gb card and the size of this camera I was able to keep it in my pocket or hanging from my wrist the whole trip...always ready for a shot! The zoom was sufficient for my needs on this trip. This camera has many settings...some AUTO and some you can manually set. Nice "special effects" also. Fun to experiment with (fish-eye, pinhole, etc).
Only complaint is the battery. I think it should last longer...so be sure to buy an extra one. But then again, I kept the camera ON all day so maybe that's normal. This in my first compact digital. But when the battery ran low I just replaced with the charged one and I was ready again to start shooting. Basically the 2 batteries lasted me all day and I would charge them up at night...ready for the next day.

I bought this camera because of my kids. I needed a camera that could take a bit of abuse and be fine. I bought from B&H. Right away i could tell that the video quality was lousy and the audio sounded like it was underwater. I gave it a fair chance and took it out, handing it very carefully as not to mar it at all. After failing every image and audio test i gave it (again, just simple use - no rough stuff) I sent it back to B&H. [...]What kind of "tough" camera gets a dent from careful use? Literally, I had an idea that i was going to exchange it so I treated it with extra care. [...]A disappointing day, indeed!

Comments about Olympus Stylus Tough-6020 Digital Camera (Black):
Good for still photos. Camera remembers settings when powered off. Power saver mode shuts off view screen after 5 seconds. Too short a time. Need to adjust settings to maintain sequential file numbers. Many shooting modes. Zoom is too fast for proper control.
Fair for video. Not really built for holding as steady as a dedicated video camera. Battery life a consideration: 1280x720 max time 30 min., 640x480 max time 1.5 hr., 320x240 max time 2 hr. Time a greater consideration than storage size. Microphone points back at you.
Recharging, using the camera not a separate charger, takes 3 hrs. The data port is similar to, but not quite, a standard 1/2 USB.

I'm very impressed with the quality of this small take-anywhere camera. I wanted a camera that would shoot quality pics AND fit in my pocket so that i would be more apt to capture memories. Best of all i don't have to worry about treating it like an egg. If i drop it- who cares! If it gets wet- who cares!
The high-stamina rechargeable battery is definitely better than constantly replacing AA batteries.
I've had it for 2 weeks, and so far ZERO complaints.

This is a really great camera for the price and it is small enough to fit in your pocket. It is tough and takes really good underwater pictures. Thought this was the perfect camera for taking to the beach.... I was wrong.
Picture quality is good outside, poor indoors and any limited light situation. Took our first picture underwater...then it all went down hill. A day later, it just stopped working and started beeping. No help from Olympus support other than a $150 charge to repair (2 weeks after warranty).
I was a strong supporter of Olympus and own several DSLR's, but my view of this company has been tainted by this experience.

We bought this camera to not only take pictures, but also because of its 720P video capability. We were comparing the quality of video to a much cheaper Kodak Play Sport (which is also waterproof), and the Play Sport had much better video quality. It was nice that Tough 6020 took high resolution pictures - but the quality wasn't as good as our 3 year old Nikon Coolpix. While this camera wasn't right for us - its all-in-one functionality might be right for somebody else.

I have recently returned from a kayaking trip in Canada with the Olympus Stylus Tough Camera. I currently own the the 725 SW, the and the 1025 SW
The 6020 has been my favorite so far. I have enjoyed the freedom and convenience of this portable, excellent camera.
I am rough on equipment, not purposely just the environment. I had accidentally dropped it on some rocks and was was concerned that I had damaged it. After checking it out for broken glass and dents I found it good to go again and resumed shooting. The up grade was a good choice for me at this point with this camera. The size is convenient, the Hype crystal view back is good. I don't care for the delay, lag time, in the processing after a shot, but that could be due to the number of megs it is processing.
I am pleased with this camera and model for what I do. I would buy another one if I needed to.

Excellent camera for playing around or near water. It takes great shots and has a lot of fun settings to play with. Does not take great pictures like a dSLR, but the auto-setting does generally work well. I chose this camera over the more expensive 8010 because anyone who is using a point and shoot deeper than 10-15' would need a strobe anyway, so this camera is suitable and cheaper. I have always been happy with Olympus and their products.
