The Olympus Stylus Tough-6020, is a compact 14-Megapixel digital camera with a 28mm 5x optical zoom lens designed for people with an active lifestyle. The camera is waterproof to 16' (4.88m), shockproof to 5' (1.52m), and freezeproof to 14°f (-10°c). This makes the camera perfect for beach going, swimming, skiing, climbing, hiking or any other outdoor activity, or tough environment.
Setting the camera for the perfect photo is easy with scene modes that include Beach, Underwater Snapshot, Underwater Wide 1, Underwater Wide 2, Underwater Macro and Pets. Accessing the camera's controls is a snap with Tap Control. This is especially convenient underwater or while wearing gloves.
The camera has features that allow you to capture the action even in low light. Dual Image Stabilization will keep your images sharp, and if the image is better captured in motion, the camera will take HD videos. The 2.7" LCD screen allows you to compose your still and video images and review them after capture. The camera takes SD/SDHC memory cards, but the built-in 1GB of internal memory allows you to take many photographs without a memory card. All of these features make the Olympus Stylus Tough-6020 the perfect camera to take with you when the going gets tough.

This is my boating and outdoor camera. It is excellent to bring along when skiing and hiking. It is small and has a very robust feel to it and takes great pictures. I had an earlier version of this camera (lost in the lake) :(. The major difference being pixels and the way you access the menus. The previous version had a little dial on the back that was very convenient. You could also quickly switch the flash preferences and exposure adjustment by simply toggle the four-way toggle. Now, with the 6020, you have to go through all the menu steps on the screen to make a change. If you need to make another change you have to scroll through the same menu once again. On the older model the menu wheel was already in place if you needed to fine tune your selection or you could just toggle with the four-way button. That being said, it is a very sturdy and compact camera and for its size it takes great pictures. I have taken videos under water with excellent results. The sound recording is OK being such a small camera. I love that the battery recharges with the USB connected to your computer while images are being transfered. The IB software installed on the computer is OK, I find it annoying to have to go through the indexing screen every time I have downloaded images. Also, the IB starts every time I connect e.g. my phone to the computer and starts downloading images from the phone and I have not found a way to stop that from happening.

Bought Olympus Stylus Tough 6020 camera and 8 MB Extreme III card for vacation trip to Florida. I've used Nikon and Sony cameras for 10 years and was looking for a waterproof, durable and reliable camera. Unfortunately the camera is not reliable.
Camera locked up many times during vacation and I had to remove battery to get it to reset. Once I got home I was unable to download pictures into the computer. It also has a very limited battery life.
I use Aperture (Mac) and have about 10,000 photos in my library. Tried recovering the files from both a Mac and PC with no luck. I had to recover each file individually and reset the camera (pulling out the battery) for every failed file. After 5 hour process of recovering files, I was finally able to recover 98 of the 144 pictures taken.
Called Olympus support but got no assistance.
I would not recommend buying this camera before a vacation or any special event without putting it through its paces first.
I will be returning it.

I purchased this camera to take along with my wife and I on a 10 day Caribbean cruise. We were going to do some snorkeling at Trunk Bay beach on St. John Island in the US Virgin Islands. I was in the water no more then 10 minutes when the camera stopped working. When I got back to the ship, I rinsed the camera in fresh water and wiped the camera off to remove any water and let it dry before opening the battery cover. When I opened the battery cover, I discovered that the camera had leaked and the HDMI mini connector was corroded. While on the ship, I met another couple that had bought the same camera to take on a Hawaii vacation. They told me that they had the same problem with theirs. This camera did not meet my expectations and I would not recommend this camera to anyone. Don't buy it, you'll be very disappointed like my wife and I was.

This camera holds up in the mud, on the trails and at the beach. You won't get portrait quality poster size SLR-style shots out of this camera. But try taking your SLR wheeling in the mud or out into the surf at the beach. I just wish the shutter speed was a little faster. Other than that this camera does what it says it will and you can't ask for more than that.

I can't believe Olympus actually sells this product! 70% of the pictures were blury, even in good light. Low light and flash images were even worse! I'll never buy an olympus again..

Used mostly for vacation including underwater snorkeling. Particularly like that it goes to 16ft underwater versus competitors 10 ft. Has an internal memory so if you forget your chip you can still take some pictures. Fits easily on a belt without interfering with movement. Easy to carry

Many features, almost too many. At first the learning curve is a little steep. Now it's a great companion and take it everywhere. The waterproof feature allows it to be taken ANYWHERE!

Comments about Olympus Stylus Tough-6020 Digital Camera (Blue):
I bought this camera for my son who wanted a camera but is not particularly careful. So far, so good. The camera has plenty of features and is fairly intuitive to use. It's sturdy with lots of metal parts, but also about 50% bigger and heavier than the typical camera of this type. Picture quality seems good, but I have not accessed this critically. Downsides include relatively short battery life. There apparently no auto off if camera is left on. You must plug it in to charge since there no separate battery charger in box. This makes it difficult to charge a backup battery. Doesn't come with memory card; you don't pay for one that's likely to be too small.

I own some high end DLSR equipment. Sometimes a guy gets tired of lugging all of the gear. I've been looking for a compact point and shoot. [...] WOW, I've had it for 2 weeks and have taken over 300 photos including underwater shots. Everyone should own this camera. It's easy to use, long battery life, it's light. In short What great value in this camera.

The camera takes nice pictures however it is very slow. I also was sent the camera with no instruction manual. The water feature is my favorite part, and the fact that I've already dropped it and it is still perfect.

Recently went on a Cruise, great pictures! Loved the underwater feature, easy to use, great zoom, and resolution. Only downfall was seemed to take a split sec to revive after a taking a pic before it would take another...but maybe it seemed longer b/c I was underwater. Start up time is slightly longer than usual. Other than that couldnt ask for a better point and shoot with these features.
