Comments about LaCie LaCinema Mini HD:
Used it for almost 6 months, here in Rio de Janeiro. After last summer (dec-mar) the HDD failed due to extreme heat build up. I do recommend it in places where the environmnet temperature does not reach over 25ºC/77ºF (Here goes easily up to 35ºC/95ºF during the night...). I bought a new HDD and it is OK, but I did some changes, since that the plastic cover does not radiate heat to outside, I opened a hole on it and put a small fan (92mm) on top of it. Problem solved!

Easy to control, small and fast. A great way to watch movies using my HDMI connection. Very good for backups of my files.

Comments about LaCie LaCinema Mini HD:
This product is great to watch videos from your computer (downloads, home movies, etc.) on your HDMI compatible TV. After setting up the network you can also watch some youtube vides through the TV which is pretty cool. I think the best thing about the device is that it connects wirelessly to your computer and detects all your pictures, music and videos without affecting what you're doing on the computer. I was happy with that.
I originally bought it as an extension to my editing system so I could weed through large amounts of broll footage on TV, while editing on the computer. This works fine (albeit a touch slow to load for large files), except for HDV codec Quicktime files (what you get when capturing footage natively from an HDV camera to your computer).
Oddly, .m2t files (essentially the same codec but without the Quicktime wrapper) will play fine on the device (again a bit slow if you're streaming 1920X1080). All other quicktime files, MPEGs and AVIs seem to work. This may be fixed as the device's software is updated (the device can connect through your networked computer and perform updates.)
Also, the version of the Twonky server provided with the device seemed to have been outdated. I had to download the latest version from the Twonky website to get it working properly. But all in all, I'd recommend it.
