The PlaySport ZX3 actually does the ZX5 one better in that it has a removable battery. This allows the user to swap out fresh batteries on the fly (something that the ZX5 doesn't do).
If stereo sound could be added to this unit it would be perfect.
You will need to buy an SD card as one is NOT included with this camera.

It's easy to use for everyone. Simple, a few buttons, intuitive.
It records in full HD 720 and 1280.
In the 720 mode, there are two kind of shots in 30 or 60 fps.
And you can use it everywhere. Waterproof for 3 mts (10 feet) under water, no problems with dust also.
It's awesome!
The bad thing is the quality in low light.

I was looking for an inexpensive replacement for a Flip Mino that died after a couple of years, and this appeared to be a good value. It's a big step up in video quality (I use the 720p/60fps setting) and appears to be durable. I supplemented the B&H accessory kit with a battery charger.

It's a very practice and easy to use device. It's stable and gives pretty good picture. Didn't use it as a still camera, because got a Canon 40D for it. But the video is geat for the price. You can use it under water. Stabilizer is good on 720p.

Works well. I've used it a few times recording Sporting Clays events. Sharp picture, good software, decent sound for a little unit.
The battery is a bit short-lived, but they are cheap, stock up on a few and throw in a 32GB card and life is good.

If you are looking for a simple camera that can go with you anywhere, put this one on your list to consider.
The image is great in good lighting and not bad in lower light. Of course, it has no nightshot or illumination so in very dark situations it is useless.
The built in microphone picks up audio suprisingly well. Also, it boots in 2 seconds from "off" to shooting. Impressive.
Files area easily downloaded onto PC (my PC Win7-Pro 64bit) and can be edited simply with Windows Movie Maker

I bought this as an xmas gift for the wife in 2010 since we expected our baby boy around the same time. I chose the playsport over the zi8 for it's durability and waterproofing. I like the picture quality when used w/ adequate light... it really suffers in low light situations. It's rugged, the screen is a pretty good size, and the price is very competitive. The user interface or "friendliness" is OK, Kodak can improve on the button sequences and menus on the next model. Handling low light is the main weakness, but most if not all cameras in this price range will suffer in this area. 1 complaint: The HDMI to mini hdmi cable included w/ my kit NEVER worked from the get go. At first I thought it was the playsport but I purchased one from monoprice and it worked. I figured it would be easier to buy one versus sending everything back and all that hubbub. Great camera for the price if you're looking for HD, compact size, waterproof, and ruggedness AND you don't mind noise in low light. Here's a snowboarding vid: [@]

The most basic functions on this camera are EXTREMELY easy to use. Getting into more advanced settings will take a little work.
Durability is a huge plus with this camera; something to consider if you live in a house with children.
High-def comes through great when you plug into TV, even when you film at 780p.
You tube upload is simple enough, although the software certainly lacks some of the bells-and-whistles.
