One of the best Christmas presents we bought this year! We bought this camera for our 12 year old son as his first digital camera. He had done some research on cameras ahead of time and felt that this would meet all his needs and was also in a great price range. We are all amazed at what great quality of pictures it takes as well as ease of use. He really likes the black matte color and the rugged looks it has. On a side note his grandfather had bought him a Vivitar Vivicam and there is no comparison at all. Night and day difference. The SL605 was only about $25.00 - $30.00 more and was well worth it!

It's pretty new, but so far it's a fine little camera. I bought it as a gift for my husband. He is technically challenged so it needed to be simple to operate and give some immediate good results when he tried it. He has taken some pictures. It's performing nicely. I like the large screen. The black on black icons on the buttons are difficult to decipher. A detailed printed manual would have been great, but we have the online manual downloaded, but I have to find what's needed and print it for him.

I love my new camera. I needed a new point and shoot and I was a little worried that the Samsung SL605 wasn't for me, but as it turns out this is just the camera I needed.
I have not been disappointed. I use it everyday to capture all the moments that happen, when they happen.
Its a little chunky, but if that is the only thing I have to complain about, I'll take it. I love this camera.

It's great. There is a slight delay on the picture taking, but get a good memory card and it should speed it up. I thought it was rubber, but it is good enough for the wear and tear of a 6 year old.

Battery life is quick, and I didn't realize it was a rechargeable...

I tested the camera for sharpness at its extremes and found the quality very good, much better than I expected. There is almost no shutter delay.

I use this product indoors and out. Mostly out. Don't let the dust free features win you over. Does no good with the lens and other parts of the camera. This camera is no more rugged and no more fragile than others. It takes nice photos, nothing to rave about but nothing to be disapointed about. For the price range it takes decent low light photos but no where near perfect. All in all it is a good everday camera for the price. 5x zoom is nice espcially in this price range.

This camera is small enough to take along anywhere. It is inexpensive enough to not worry too much about losing it or having it stolen, yet sophisticated enough to take outstanding pictures. A terrific camera.

Used for both day and night. Used the smart night shot mode and pics were mostly blurry. Has a nice big LED screen. Do not like the fact that the battery can only be charged while it's in the camera, but it's their way of making business to make you buy an external charger.

This camera has several advanced features that are easy to use. My favorite feature is the subject highlight box that enables you to really focus on what you want to focus on. Easy to use right out of the box.

I like this good-bang-for-the-buck camera. Don't expect magic with the small sensor though. Here are details of pros and cons.

Pros: wide angle; good image quality at low ISO; cheap in price, yet doesn't feel cheap; white balance is quite accurate; tripod mount at the middle (try using mini tripod for camera with mount at the side, then you will know how important this is); light and small enough to bring around

Cons: image quite soft at the corner; quirky location of flash; lots of noise at ISO higher than 400 (but probably not worse than other small-sensor cameras); color all washed out at ISO 1600; low-quality screen (grainy compared to some other screens with same resolution)

Other comments: there is no real image stabilization (optical, or sensor-shift) although the marketing people may want to to think otherwise; it's okay that f-number is 3.5 at 27mm, but f/5.9 at 135mm is too limiting, especially for a camera without optical image stabilization; 12MB photos of this camera do not seem to contain more information compared to 8MB photos

Forgot my camera in moscow so had to buy a new and a cheap camera in NY, went to B&H and seen this camera, the price was really cheap, so decided to buy it. The battery works for a very long time, everyday shooting and making fotos for 3-6 hours and it works for 3 days without charging. Very compact and good

Pros: Very inexpensive. The photo quality is great for the casual photographer, and the feature set is relatively good. Smart photo function is very good at recognizing your subject and adjusting accordingly.

Con: In anything but full sunlight, landscape/scenic photos do not come out well. That said, the flash is phenomenal in close quarters (<15ft)

Other comments: Because the LCD screen is bigger and the body thin, some of the settings are hidden in a menu. It takes a bit of playing around, but it is not too difficult to use. My only complaint about this bit is that you can't change custom settings (other than flash) very easily.

Bought 4 of these for business - we need to photograph conditions at houses. I had been looking for a waterproof/rugged camera that can take the daily abuse and I had tried several of them - they were all terrible in low light situations (which is a significant problem for us). The SL605 has been good so far. The flash is strong enough to mostly illuminate the other end of a dark room (20 feet plus). The wide angle lens is a big plus. The camera can be a little tough to hold since it is so small but the size makes it very portable. The flash is really sensitive in that you need to make sure you keep your hand far away from the flash or it will cast a major shadow in the picture. The autofocus has trouble when there is no dominant object in the picture - some room pictures turn out blurry. I don't yet know how long it can take the use and abuse of about 200 pictures per day.

This camera was the 3rd replacement point & shoot for my daughter who avidly captures photos of my 4 year old granddaughter as well as their family adventures.
I was particularly attracted to the price performance of features offered, especially the rugged construction and dust protection. Though not "waterproof" I can rest easier that this camera will last for awhile. Photo quality is excellent! Price couldn't be beat!

I LIKED THE MENUS AND THE DIFFERNT OPTIONS IT HAD TO TAKE DIFFERNT KINDS OF PHOTOS. GREAT PRICE FOR THIS CAMERA. EVERYWHERE ELSE IT WAS AT LEAST $50 HIGHER.
