The SkimmerSack Beanbag from NatureScapes is an extremely flexible and durable beanbag-style equipment support capable of endless shooting possibilities. It was originally designed to be used as a support for shooting from a car window opening. But with a unique "U" shaped design, the SkimmerSack can be used on any surface and almost any shooting scenario. Its construction allows you to fill it with a variety of materials such as beans, sunflower seeds or even plastic marbles. By adjusting the amount of fill, the SkimmerSack can be transformed for a variety of uses and the possibilities are endless simply by varying quantities of fill.

The SkimmerSack has a unique shaped design and can be positioned on top of any surface and adjusted to a multitude of configurations.
First ever "U" shaped bag with unique round-top design for use alone, or matched perfectly with the Skimmer Ground Pod II placed on top.
For use with any lens and camera combination from wide angle up to a 600mm f/4 or 800mm f/5.6.
Continuous non-skid Toughtek fabric inside of the legs for non slip grip on car doors.
Highly contoured design allows less fill than other bags - weighs only 8 pounds when full using whole sunflower seeds.
Large zippered opening with protective flap for easy secure filling.
All seams are double stitched for extra strength - stress areas stitched at least 5 times. The SkimmerSack is extremely durable - most others bean bags are made of cheaper nylon "pack cloth" or cotton canvas materials and employ only single stitching methods.
Hook and loop straps at each end of the "legs" for tying the bag down to door handles or safari roof racks.
Sewn in handles on each side - may be used for tie downs or to secure the Skimmer Ground Pod II (optional) using a 3" climber's clip attached to the Skimmer's carrying tab.
When used with the optional Skimmer Ground Pod II you can use with any ballhead, Gimbal head or simply install a Wimberley C-10 quick release plate for the lowest profile option. Riser blocks may also be used to fine tune your shooting height.
Basic Fill Guidelines:
  • With 70 - 90% fill you can place it over a car door and shoot with a lens alone or with the use of a Skimmer II Ground Pod (not included) on top. It can also be used upside down.
  • With 40% fill the "legs" can be folded under making a flatter "pancake" style beanbag for use with smaller lenses or for a lower profile.
  • With 70-80% fill the "legs" can be spread out and placed on top of a car or in between the rails of a safari vehicle - leaving the round surface available for cradling your lens or placing the Skimmer II on top.
  • Material Durable 500 denier DuPont Cordura nylon (waterproof urethane coated)
Non-skid Toughtek fabric for the interior
    Closure Self-healing #5 zipper
    Hook and loop closures
    Weight Empty: 5 oz (141.7 g)

        Comments about Naturescapes SkimmerSack Beanbag:

I use this product to shoot out of my car window. It holds a long lens perfectly while the flaps sit on both sides of my car window when it's down. I love this thing and keep it my car all the time and cannot find any flaws with it.

            Comments about Naturescapes SkimmerSack Beanbag:

You have to figure the cost of purchasing the inner material for this bag, but the bag itself is very well made and does what it promises to do. I often quickly flip it on itself to double the height when conditions require more height while shooting from the car.I'm pleased with the purchase.

              Comments about Naturescapes SkimmerSack Beanbag:

I plan to use the SkimmerSack to photograph birds and wildlife from my car. The beanbag fits nicely over my car door. I was anxious to try it out so I went into the garage to test it. I lowered the window, placed it over the door, and selected a metal knob on the top of our camp lantern which had a grid pattern on it. The 70-200 lens felt rock solid resting on the SkimmerSack so I fired away. Upon examining the knob at full magnification, I was shocked to see how sharp it was. I'm going to figure other ways to use this bag.

                Comments about Naturescapes SkimmerSack Beanbag:

The SkimmerSack is innovative and versatile. You must fill the bag with rice, beans, sunflower seed, but you can full to any level to provide the exact support you need. It can lay over a window edge or plopped down on a car top to cradle a big lens. Uses velcro straps to attach to door pulls and has handles. I'll use it with a Canon 500mm on the top of a Land Rover in Kenya and Tanzania.
