The Space Navigator 3D Mouse for Notebooks from 3Dconnexion is a mouse designed to facilitate work with 3D software applications for notebook users. This mouse is two thirds the size and half the weight of its desktop counterpart, making it ideal for mobile 3D users or as a second device for those with a SpacePilot PRO, SpacePilot or SpaceExplorer in the office.
Unlike a conventional mouse, which is limited to movement on two flat planes, this unit supports effortless motion in all directions. Simply push, pull, tilt, or twist the controller cap to simultaneously pan, zoom, and rotate 3D imagery on X, Y, and Z axes. This is the notebook edition of the SpaceNavigator mouse and includes an unlimited use license appropriate for commercial purposes, as well as full phone, e-mail, and online support.
Increasing or decreasing pressure with the controller determines the speed with which the mouse responds. It is compatible with most standard 3D applications and automatically recognizes such programs already loaded on your computer, including but not limited to Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire, Solid Edge, UGS NX, and a host of other CAD and DCC applications.
This model includes (2) programmable function keys. When applications are pre-installed on your computer, the mouse will revert to default function configurations associated with each program. It is compatible with the following operating systems: Windows (2000, XP, Vista), UNIX/Linux, and Mac OS X (10.4.6 and later).

Easy to install and use. I had one similar from 3D connexion a few years back and the motion on this model is far superior. 3D Connexion really stepped it up

Comments about 3Dconnexion Space Navigator 3D Mouse for Notebooks:
I use the product for 3DS Max primarily and have been using the bigger brother for 4+ years now. Going back to grad school means I need a smaller option. Only problem is the decrease in weight makes it a little less easy to control.

Comments about 3Dconnexion Space Navigator 3D Mouse for Notebooks:
I use the 3d mouse in CAD programs, it is easy to configure, and responds so well although at first takes some time to get used to it. I think it is somewhat heavy for a 3d mouse.
