Sony's VCT-SP2BP Camcorder Shoulder Support uses a unique collapsible design to provide 3-point shoulder stabilization for just about any camcorder. Unfolded and extended, the VCT-SP2BP offers handheld camera support from hands, chest, and shoulder. Collapsed and folded down, the unit attaches easily to a tripod using the included adapters, adding a high degree of flexibility to your shoot. The adjustable shoulder and chest braces can be fit to body size and shooting preference, while the addition of a standard tripod screw lets you mount accessories, such as a battery plate or flash memory device, to the VCT-SP2BP's rear.

VCT-SP2BP Camcorder shoulder support just does what it is built for. I am using it with my Sony PMW EX1R. Without it it is impossible to hand shoot with that heavy camera for a longer period of time. It takes all the stress from your wrist. I tried it ones and it seems to be comfortable. I had used one of the accessories to mount my battery for Sony light, which makes the front of a camera a little bit lighter. Also I mounted a tripod quick release plate, so am able to go quickly to a tripod if needed. It would be much better if the front support arm could be steady fixed so you don't need to adjust it so often. I little bit overpriced. Otherwise, it is a good product. I would recommend purchasing it.

I bought a support for my Sony Pmwex1r from another company and paid much less money and it is uncomfortable, clunky, and junk. I guess it is true you get what you pay for. I since bought the sony VCT - SP2BP brace and it fits like a glove. very easy to use and most comfortable.

Used in Pro Video Weddings and TV Production.
Great because it can be placed into the quick release on a tripod.
Bad, because it is a terrible design, there is no comfort pad for your shoulder, all the weight of the camera is in the front and no support other than your hand.
When placed on your shoulder the camera is facing down. You have to lift it into an uncomfortable position to have it facing in a level position.
The Chest rest, is uncomfortable and does nothing.
The adjustment knob is also sub standard.
The only way I could use this comfortably was to carry it chest high.

I got this to help steady my NX5U. It adds weight to the camera and takes some time to adjust to your body. But, works great. Its the next best "stabilizer" to my Merlin Steadycam. And better in fast moving and windy conditions. Because of its design I think it is the best of the shoulder mounts I've tried. I use it with my lighter Panny HMC40 also. Expensive but works.

After a day of handheld with my EX-1R at a family reunion, I knew I needed support for future shoots. I decided to purchase this for use at an upcoming wedding. I found this support is necessary for stabile handheld use in videography. I am a large man and find the following with EX-1R - shoulder pad does not extend far enough down my back, can't line up eye to eyecup viewfinder (works good with LCD), the front stabilizer arm will not maitain the angle as it has only a poor friction lock. The unit includes adapters for VCT-014 which I have not used, but highly recommend. Even with the above issues, the unit definately makes handheld work much better than free hand.

I OWN THE PMW-EX1R, AND I READ SOME REVIEWS ABOUT THE BRICK BATTERY NOT FITTING WITH THIS SHOULDER RIG, BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT BRICK THEY WERE TRYING TO USE, SINCE I USE MINE AND IT WORKS PERFECTLY WITH IT, SIMPLY AN AMAZING ONE BY SONY!!!

I was very surprised with this product. It does a great job of taking all the stress of your wrist. I used the shoulder support three days straight. I did everything from run & gun to shooting on sticks it worked perfectly. I gave it four stars because it add a little length to the base of the camera and does not fit my bag. One other minor thing is the front support arm need to be adjust every so often. I would recommend purchasing addition tripod plate for your camera and keeping it on the shoulder unit.

This is a must if you use the ex3 on the shoulder!! Has nice accessory mount on side. Only bad remark is I cannot fit my ex3 in my bag with this support attached.

Comments about Sony VCT-SP2BP Camcorder Shoulder Support:
If you use the OEM brick battery, such as 96wwh brick, this shoulder support will be the big trouble. They can't fit with each other. For all-Sony accessories family, it works fine but with others, trouble.

Comments about Sony VCT-SP2BP Camcorder Shoulder Support:
I do a lot of handheld shooting. However, with the EX1r, doing it for even a few minutes can strain your hand. The VCT-SP2BP does a good job of distributing the weight of the camera, relieving/eliminating hand strain. I haven't run into issues while breathing. Only wish, however, that the front support actually went all the way down to the waist and more mounting options for the back (e.g. IDX batteries)

This works well. It doesn't really come with instructions but can be figured out OK.
If you want to use this with a Tripod, you also have to buy the adapter, part VCT-U14, another $200.00.
I haven't used this long enough to know if I would buy it again. It is expensive and can be noisy when setting up.

Comments about Sony VCT-SP2BP Camcorder Shoulder Support:
I have checked out a number of shoulder braces for my EX1R. I was looking for one that was light
yet very functional, easy to set up and that enabled me to use my viewfinder, not just the LCD screen. It's expensive but it's the only one that fulfilled my requirements. Sony has done it again.
