My wife and I are digital photographers and use the tablet primarily with Photoshop and Lightroom. I have been using the extra large Intuous3 12"x12" for a couple years and feel a bit more control with the larger tablet area.

My wife was interested in a smaller footprint on her desktop, so we decided to get her the 5"x8" wireless Intuous4.

On occasion I noticed an annoying slight lag time between making pen movements on the tablet and seeing the brush stokes and/or cursor movements on the screen, possibly due to the Bluetooth interface.

I will probably soon replace my 12x12 Intuous3 with a new 8"x12" Intuous4 wired directly to USB. This will give me the new features intoduced in the newer product, a slight reduction in the footprint on my desktop, while still providing a large enough tablet area to maintain control of my editing.

I use this product for editing photos. What makes this item great is the fine granular control you get versus a mouse. The tablet itself is fairly large relative the drawing area, which is perfect for resting you palms while you edit. I bought the optional art pen and air brush; both are very cool products, but if you are an air brush artist, the air brush pen lacks realism. To get the most out of this product, you should buy the optional training videos from third party; it will get you up and running much faster. As for drivers, don't install the release drivers, just go download the latest version first. If you upgrade the driver, you MUST uninstall the old one first, at least on Windows 7 x64 versions. The out of the box driver did not work corectly with Windows 7 x64 and Adobe PS CS5; it didn't detect the pressure sensitivity. I would have given this product four stars, if it wasn't for my frustration with the drivers.

Comments about Wacom Intuos4 Wireless Digital Tablet:

I have been using the intuos3 at work for over 2 years now as a graphic and web designer, so I decided to get the instuos4 wireless for my freelance work.

The bluetooth connection is a pain. It does not retain the connection very well, and a lot of times I have to re-configure it with my Mac to get it working again. Having it wired solves the issue, but there is another problem. The pen does not work well when going over links - the cursor jumps away from the link you want to select.

The surface of the intuos4 feels like cheap plastic. The surface of Intuos3 is much better, and smoother.

I think Wacom needs to release a major update to fix these issues. I should have stuck with the intuos3.

Too bad they botched the wireless

Comments about Wacom Intuos4 Wireless Digital Tablet:

It's a great tablet and all, but the wireless is obviously an poorly-planned afterthought.

If you define your own ExpressKey settings for a certain application, whenever you switch to/from that application the tablet will become COMPLETELY UNRESPONSIVE for 1~2 seconds as the OLED displays update. This is an absurd defect I'd only expect to see on a the cheapest of cheap knockoffs. Not on a professional and high-priced product like this, and especially not when I'm using it with a MacBook Pro, not exactly low-end hardware itself. I tried asking their support about this, but gave up once they suggested I turn off my WiFi and enable airplane mode on any cellphones in the vicinity before using my tablet.

I guess I'm used to products that live up to their price tags, and support that doesn't try to blow you off with BS excuses for their own flawed design.

Recommendation: If you don't *absolutely, totally, 100%* need *BT* wireless, save the cash and go with the Medium size. It's more frustration than it's worth.

I'm excited to now have a tablet in which I can perfect my photography and artwork. I had some issues with the driver, but it seems to be working now. I don't know what I was thinking when I ordered it, but I'm not finding the wireless feature very useful. I still have to sit somewhat close to my PC or laptop in order to see details, so the wires aren't really in the way when sitting that close anyways. Other than that, I'm happy with my purchase. :)

Comments about Wacom Intuos4 Wireless Digital Tablet:

I guess I have to give it at least the one star for the fact that it works 70% of the day. The other 30% it looses connection. After that I have to remove the device and re-add it back into the computer. It works the same with both my Mac mini and Macbook Pro so I know it is the device. Wacom told me to move it closer to the computer but it is only two feet away. I have had several Wacom tablets dating back to the first I got in 1990 and this is the first one that I would not rave about. Really disappointed in the support or lack of from the company. It does work if I plug it in but I really did not want that and paid $100 extra so I would not have to. This is a fail in every way.

Comments about Wacom Intuos4 Wireless Digital Tablet:

I had not owned a tablet until I purchased this one recently. I wasn't quite sure how I'd use one since most of my projects are in the photography and video realm. The cost of the thing was right about at my threshold of pain, but I'm a big believer in you get what you paid for. The Intuos4 is worth every penny - This thing is incredible! The ambidextrous set up was easy for my left handedness, and the fact that it uses bluetooth rather than another USB cable to connect is what makes this tablet an absolute dream. It took me less than 5 minutes to install the software and connect via bluetooth pairing, and the second I turn it on to use, it's connected - EVERY TIME! There is no delay in responsiveness, and the dial interface on the pad that you can customize to your own common tasks is a great idea. I'm still just scratching the surface as I use it with the Adobe Creative Suite 5 software package, but the Intuos4 Wacom Tablet has certainly added another dimension to my artistic drive.

Comments about Wacom Intuos4 Wireless Digital Tablet:

It was bought primarily for photo editing, but short of typing has become my preferred mode for navigating around my computer. I have setup my hdtv for photo editing and this has allowed me to be a comfortable distance for editing while allowing me to see every single detail in it's entirety, and being stuck to a mouse would have made that difficult!
A big side benefit-I was also suffering from "mouse finger" and boy has this cured that little affliction!
The fact it is wireless has given me great freedom to just focus on my work. I don't suffer any lag time when wireless, but I am also very careful to not put anything between the pad and the computer it is connected to. The supplied cord is also long enough to work with, so if I want to work plugged in, I can...Great product.

I don't know how i used a normal mouse before. This tablet is great, helps so much with editing and photoshop/ illustrator work. Amazing, precise, and easy to use. I can't ask for anything more.

This tablet is the perfect size. It weighs next to nothing. The response time is INSTANT. Granted, the learning curve to use all the features takes a while... but that is true of all tablets. Definitely a great investment in your workflow. You'll never go back to trying to draw or retouch with a mouse.

As a wired tablet it is fine. As a wireless it is worthless. I have to spend 15 minutes reconnecting bluetooth dongle before each use, then it dose not work smoothly. I could have spent $100 less for a wired tablet.

I use Photoshop alot but my work was either stressful or lucky using a mouse. Now with the Wacom tablet, I am familiar and in complete control of my creative work using this pen device. I wanted this luxury I saw all the NAPP pros using.

I finally did it up and bought a wacom tablet! I love it and it's so much better than the tablets of the past. This model is slick looks great and very customizable. The blue tooth has some issues sometimes and that would be my only complaint but the product is solid overall!

Comments about Wacom Intuos4 Wireless Digital Tablet:

First off, I'm a little bummed out that this model doesn't include a mouse like the other tablets, but I guess I can always add one later. I'd probably just get a wired one with mouse if I ordered it again today... but my future plans include a bluetooth Macbook Pro, so I'm keeping on the assumption I'll use the wireless feature a lot more with it. For now, it just stays plugged in to my PC.

I use this tablet for photo editing in Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom and it works great. I've been using an older non-Wacom tablet for editing and thought it was pretty good, but the Intuous4 is so much more sensitive it's incredible. The adjustment and ability to customize it is really great too. It's a really well designed and built product. I LOVE the fact that the pen does not require a battery. My older tablet's pen uses a AAA battery and I'm constantly replacing it, or it dies on me at the worst possible time when I'm out of spare batteries.

At first, I noticed a bit of jittery performance over bluetooth... but I deleted/re-synced it with the built-in bluetooth in my Dell XPS desktop and now it's as smooth as it could be. It seems it originally recognized it as a mouse, and not as a tablet. I would definitely buy this product again, but if you want a mouse to go with it, just make sure to get the wired version or be prepared to buy one for use with the wireless model.

Comments about Wacom Intuos4 Wireless Digital Tablet:

I have a new iMac (i5). I like the idea of all wireless devices, but the wireless mouse and tablet had some set up problems that required Wacom technical assistance. The tablet's rechargeable battery lasts about eight hours of use, then has to be recharged with a USB cable which takes four to six hours. So either you leave you system on at the end of the day to charge the tablet, or it's only wireless every other day. Since I'm left handed, I'm delighted that the tablet can be set up for either hand -- about time.
I wouldn't bother to buy the wireless version if I was starting over.
