The Samsung UN46C8000 46" 1080p 3D LED TV is an ultra-slim (0.9") 1080p HD panel with a ToC (Touch of Color) black-accented bezel and an 8,000,000:1 contrast ratio enabling display of vivid, crisp image with details in both the light and dark areas on the screen. Moreover, it can do it in 3D as well as standard 2D.
The UN46C8000 can give even give conventional 2-D programming a 3-D effect but for best results you'll want to use programming that was shot, mastered and produced in 3-D like the latest Blu-ray 3-D movies and 3-D console games. You'll also need 3-D glasses (sold separately) for each viewer.
Precision Dimming adds local dimming technology to LED edge-lighting to yield unheard of contrast ratio of 8,000,000:1 backed by the aptly named HyperReal Picture Engine. 240Hz Clear Motion Rate technology renders even the fastest action scenes with crystal clarity.
It's a pleasure to listen to also. Just two stereo speakers can create an uncanny surround sound illusion thanks to the wizardry of SRS TruSurround HD. TS HD actually seems to create "phantom speakers" that project sound throughout your watching and listening area. And these are just the basics on this set.
Plug in a USB thumb drive (not included) into one of the set's USB ports and view a JPEG picture file slide show while you listen to a soundtrack of MP3 files from the same drive. You can even watch movies in more than a dozen formats (including the popular MPG, AVI and ASF formats).
