The 1TB eGo Jet Black Desktop Hard Drive from Iomega is USB 2.0 hard drive, ideal for desktop use. The drive features a stunning design highlighted by a perforated facade and Iomega's Jet Black color scheme.
The Iomega Protection Suite, which is available via download, includes a 1-year subscription to Trend Micro Internet Security, as well as EMC Retrospect Express Backup software, Iomega QuikProtect, and access to the MozyHome Online Backup service. The drive is compatible with Windows and Mac computer systems.

I partitioned this drive and formatted it for a Msc, and use one partition as the time machine drive and the other for miscellaneous copies and storage. It works perfectly. I appreciate the on/off switch so that I can shut it off before unplugging it.

I use this external backup drive to back up my vital work files. It is faster than the other drives I have tried and very easy to use. I don't use any special software, just Windows copy and paste function. I reformatted the drive as soon as I received it because I read that doing so best prevents drive crashes in the future (shipping misaligns the heads). I have only used it for a few days so I can't vouch for its reliability or longevity, which is why I did not give it 5 stars yet. However, my research found Iomega rated above most competitors for reliability and so far it hasn't disappointed. Only two negatives so far: one, its stick-on type of plastic feet fall off easily. Two: there is no light in the front to indicate when it is copying or even turned on, so I faced the back with its light towards me. No big deal except now I have the wires jutting out into my workspace instead of hidden behind the unit.
