Comments about Iomega 2TB eGo Midnight Blue Desktop Hard Drive:
I am a photographer who needs lots of redundant back up space for my Raw image files, So a 2 TB drive is what I needed. I did a lot of research and this drive was the best for the price that I found.
The good: It has an On & Off Switch which is a fantastic feature. It is Very Very Fast for USB 2.0. Data Loads up Fast and Data transfer speed is the fastest for 2.0. It is a Great looking drive. It can stack or stand up. It is Very Quiet. I hardly hear it. Excellent Price.
From B&H I know that I am in good hands.
Not so good:
The 2 TB is really only 1.81 TB. So where's the other 19 GB? That information is not mentioned in any review or on the specs. To me that is a really big differnce in storage space.
Also...
I had a problem with it at first while transferring data. But it has been working great since that one time.
Because of these 2 issues, I gave it 4 stars out of 5.
I love the drive despite these issues. The speed and the switch alone are reasons to get this drive.

Comments about Iomega 2TB eGo Midnight Blue Desktop Hard Drive:
I am a photographer and I needed a 2nd External Hard Drive for backing up raw images. I have a lot so I need a large drive as a second back up. I have another brand 1 TB drive as the 1st back up and it works great.
I read lots of reviews for this external drive, most were great. I was very hopeful and wanted this drive.
I use a Windows 7 PC and the drive was formatted for that system.
The good...
Love the look, Can lay flat for stacking or can sit upright with a provided stand, Easy set up, It is really fast and quiet. It has an on and off switch .....I really like that. The price was great.
The bad...
Very Short USB and Power cords.
No one mentioned in any review that this 2 TB Drive is actually 1.81 TB... that is not just a little under 2 TB.... that is 19 TB Less. No where does the specifications say this. I had no idea of this fact. If I knew this, I might not have purchased this drive. So now you know.
I am not sure that it is reliable and am considering returning it. Twice in the 1st day that I was transfering large amounts of data, it stopped working, prompted me to reformat the drive and the computer no longer recognized the drive. I was able to get it going again both times, but the third time it happened, I was unable to get the drive back. I could not access any files on the drive. I went to the Iomega site to see about Tech Support and was trying everything I read.... nothing. I tried it on another computer... it would not install the drivers and there was an error. The drive did not show on that computer. I tried searching for any info that I could find for help. I spent hours reconnecting the drive, changing USB Ports, re- starting the computer, etc. All the drive did was make a clicking noise. Then all of a sudden after a few hours of not working, the drive suddenly started up again and re installed the drivers. The question is.. will it be ok from now on....How can I know for sure? So.....I am trying to add files back a few gigs at a time to see what happens. I am taking a risk trying it out again. In a few days, if it does anything again, I will have to send it back.
I only gave it 3 stars for the 19 missing TBs and the reliable issue that I have experienced. I really want the drive to work out. I have tried other drives and they were slow.. this one is very fast for a USB 2.0.

Comments about Iomega 2TB eGo Midnight Blue Desktop Hard Drive:
Bought 2 of these units to "emulate" RAID 1. Shipped swiftly, installed without any hitches on both Windows XP (SP2) and Vista (SP1). Just plug it in and use it! So far, so good, and I'm rather impressed!
But... the point of concern turned out to be the occasional sound these units made while copying 2/3 TB of data: Occasionally they sounded like they are "slamming" a R/W head against some physical limit. This sound may not mean anything, but it is still rather disconcerting to anyone having experienced the agony of a dying hard drive (Caveat Emptor)
