I purchased the product to use it in my trip. The pictures came out very great quality. I purchased a camera with all in one gadget. The video operates as good as carrying a video cam. I don't have to carry a video cam to take videos, its all in this camera. Nice :-)

Comments about Nikon CoolPix S8000 Digital Camera (Red):
The camera takes fantastic pictures and is great for a point and shoot user like me. My only complaint would be that the pop-up flash is quite annoying. People taking photos of you don't expect it to pop up, so it frequently gets pushed back down accidentally. Because of this, shortly after getting the camera, the pop up actually broke, so now I have to manually push up the flash. Other than that small issue, the camera is perfect!

I took several photos immediately after receiving this camera of my Christmas tree. I had tried with another camera but the picture looked washed out and dark; but this Cool Pix is able to compensate and take wonderful pictures in dim light. I highly recommend this product. Camera is the size and weight of a small calculator!

Using this in Iraq, you never know when a good picture opportunity will appear. Whether it be with friends or a beautiful sunset. Whatever of wherever the situation presents itself, I need a camera that would boot up and focus quickly to capture the moment. This camera did that. It is easy to use and the results are great!

This is my third point-and-shoot camera and I love it. The 10x zoom is the best! Only thing I don't like is the location of the flash.

Comments about Nikon CoolPix S8000 Digital Camera (Red):
Although a great fan of Nikon (I'm a D90 user) I was unsure about choosing a Coolpix (I recall an old model my brother had some years ago that recorded video without sound!) but I decided to give Nikon compact cameras another try.
I was particularly impressed by the 10x zoom and the 920,000 pixel screen (the same screen as the D90 DSLR) in a small package.
I've used the camera for a few days now in various settings (indoor, outdoor, zoom, sunlight and low light) and these are my initial impressions:
- startup speed is a bit slow but in line with most modern compact cameras I have used.
- 10x zoom is a great asset in such a small package
- the screen is a luxury (again compared to many point and shoots) and is reinforced. It looks capable of withstanding some abuse
- low-light photographs looked a bit grainy for me but ok for a compact.
- I haven't used the video enough to comment.
- The camera has a 'blink warning' feature that lets the user know if a picture needs to be re-shot. Although it may be useful to some, I prefer it OFF as it adds a second or so of delay before the exposure can be previewed on the screen.
Two small design issues that I didn't like:
1) the pop-up flash is in the far top corner, a place where I have found many people -me included- place their left index finger while shooting. I guess this may be due to the 10x zoom that would probably block the flash when fully extended. It's not a dealbreaker but takes some getting used to.
2) the camera is only red (or colored in the non-black models) in the FRONT HALF of the camera. This can be clearly seen in the BH shots but I overlooked it when buying. This can be a source of -minor- disappointment to some buyers.
Bottom line: strongly recommended to anyone who wants the benefit of a 300mm zoom without having to carry a heavy camera around.
