Comments about Nikon CoolPix S8000 Digital Camera (Silver):
It's great for landscape pictures and great for a quick shot. I'm going on a cruise to italy and greece, so i will be doing a lot of walking while taking pictures. It turns on and off quickly, and its ready to shoot. The flash that pops out of the camera while on flash mode is a bit irritating if you are used to holding it with both hands, but its not so bad. Picture quality is great, so are short videos that come out in HD. You can edit the pictures on the camera itslef, like skin softening, lighting, vividness exct. Its a smart camera, it can detect when people are smiling or blinking and will automatically retake the picture if someone blinks.

Traveling across country this summer seeing rock festivals--am using the camera to not only take pictures but to video. I bought the car charger with it and the only negative is that it charges better with that than the wall charger now.
Picture and video quality is excellent.

Comments about Nikon CoolPix S8000 Digital Camera (Silver):
Nice little camera, easy to carry and snap. Great pictures. Two drawbacks which I found are, (1.) the flash light is on the top right of the camera. [which pops up in auto mode/flash mode]. While taking pictures we all hold this type of point and shoot cameras using our both hands, which blocks poping up the flash light for this model. Hope you all got what I mean. (2.) Some times the camera doesn't focus image to the right focal length. Eventhough we press the button half way to focus the image we get blurred pictures.

Comments about Nikon CoolPix S8000 Digital Camera (Silver):
I am not a professional photographer, just a mom who wants to preserve every moment of my children's youth. I needed to upgrade my 3.2 Mp camera and chose this camera for it's high Mp. Most of my pictures are taken in low-light so I also liked this camera's high ISO capabilities. With the first few pictures (in a low-light setting) I immediately saw a huge improvement over my old camera. Specifically, the short lag time, the brightness of the picture even in low light, and being able to capture a low light photo in focus of my wobbly baby. The flash doesn't wash out the subject like my old camera. It still captures a natural looking portrait. I like the slim design and ease of use. The video capability was a bonus for me and came in handy on a particular occasion but the quality is not better than my 4 year old mini DVC video camera. The only negative for the camera is where to hold it with my left hand when the flash is up. It's a very minor complaint and I will learn to adjust how I hold the camera if it means I can have a larger LCD screen and slim design. I will also buy a back up battery since this camera uses a rechargeable one. I haven't learned how to use all of the bells and whistles and even if I never do I am extremely happy with the core function of this camera; taking great pictures worthy of being put into a photo album.

Comments about Nikon CoolPix S8000 Digital Camera (Silver):
We bought this for my father-in-law to replace his 5 years old SONY point-and-shot. Having this in mind, we were looking for a camera with these criteria: a) point and shot; b) good picture quality; c) has to be good at "everything auto"; d) buttons and menu have to be 'trivial'. We started with Canon P&S since we had quite a good experience with a couple of Canon P&S cameras before. Then saw this on the web, its 10x zoom caught my eyes. Found no review, so I decided to "preview" it myself. While we were comparing this one with Canon SD3500 and SD980 (roughly within the same price range), we took various photos for the same situations and reviewed by different people. Found out that this one win all points. (Note: Don't compare the picture quality with a DSLR. Think about the convenience when buying a P&S.)

Comments about Nikon CoolPix S8000 Digital Camera (Silver):
It's ready to go in about 2 seconds; unit is a little wider & heavier than the 630, but not uncomfortable. Have shot landscape, children, etc. and the focus identifies quickly, reaady to take before the shot is lost. Colors are true; 10x zoom is a treat. You can make some changes to the shooting menu, but remember its not a DSLR. It's a stick in your pocket & take with, that give very good pics.
