The Nikon CoolPix S3000 offers a 4x, 27-108mm equivalent zoom range coupled with 12.0 megapixels of resolving power, and a bright 2.7" LCD.
To ensure sharp, usable pictures under any and all lighting conditions, the CoolPix S3000 features a 4-way VR optical image stabilization system, the ability to boost ISO ratings up to 3200, and Nikon's Best Shot Selector (BSS) that quickly captures 10 exposures and automatically edits and saves the sharpest of the batch.

I bought this camera after a long[...] my love of Nikon's fabulously saturated pictures. This camera does exactly what I want it to...go CLICK and take the picture RIGHT WHEN I WANT IT TO...not after my kids or cats stopped doing whatever cuteness I'm trying to capture. The resulting photos, are, of course, GORGEOUS. I haven't found any not-so-great features yet...so far, so good. I love that this camera is super-light and compact, and that it comes with its own rechargeable battery.

One if first bought this the S310's were arriving and i had second thoughts. For what I got not bad! Low Light PIcs (NO FLASH) Yeah they came out black.
BRIGHT LIGHT (NO FLASH) They were sometimes blurry washed out or all one color! LOW LIGHT (w/Flash) EXCELLENT ALMOST AS IF I HAD THE LIGHTS ON! BRIGHT LIGHT WITH FLASH NOT MUCH USE BUT CAN HELP STIll AMAZINGLY GOOD!

I use this camera to carry around all the time. It's small size makes this easy to do. It give much better results than the cameras built into cell phones. The thing I like least is that you have to use a USB cable to charge the battery. I would prefer to plug the battery directly into the charger.

I myself am a Canon DSLR owner and this is the first time that I have purchased a Point and Shoot let alone a Nikon. I purchased this gift for my girlfriend but I have been using regularly instead of lugging around my DSLR. I find the camera is easy to use and takes fairly good shots in semi dark enviroments with great tones. This camera for the average person would be more than enough to get those great shots. The one thing I noticed is that the auto focus if left at its default will try to focus on the wrong things...as I do with my camera I just set it to center focus on anything center of the frame.

This is an early review. Just gave the camera to my daughter for Christmas. She reports it's easy to use right out of the box. She's happy with the photos she's taking. And she loves that she doesn't have to buy batteries. The small size makes it easy to carry in her purse, but she wishes it came with a case.
I already own a D70s, but I'm going to buy a Coolpix S3000 for myself next!
