My main camera is a Nikon D60. I purchased this slim Nikon Coolpix because of its size for times that I don't want to carry around a SLR.
This camera is very easy to use and the perfect size to keep with you at all times to capture those unexpected moments. The start up time for this camera is amazingly fast and short lag time.
I love the fact that it can charge while downloading pictures to your PC or Laptop.
The only short fall for this camera that I have found so far is the short life of the battery. My SLR can take around 600 pictures when fully charged, this Coolpix took around 300. So if you are looking to take a lot of pictures I highly recommend an extra battery!

This is a small, sleek camera, easy to use once you spend time learning the menus.
I am accustomed to old 35mm SLR film cameras and the one thing I miss horribly is the instantaneous click. When I hit the trigger, the shutter releases. With these auto digital cameras, there is a delay and I often miss the moment I was aiming for. Perhaps I can turn off the auto features that prevent instantaneous release, but I need to explore the point and shoot more to learn what it's good at. For the money, this is an easy camera. But I think I may invest in a digital camera with a traditional viewfinder and more manual options next time.

Comments about Nikon CoolPix S3000 Digital Camera (Silver):
This camera is for my husband who demands quality & simplicity. He has both in the Nikon S3000. Before it came, we visited my uncle who was showing off his new little camera. Yes, a Nikon S3000.
My husband is getting used to the camera & has installed the necessary computer software, complaining every step of the way about having to learn something new.
Now, a couple of weeks later, he's very happy with the new camera. BTW, my uncle is 95, my husband is 64, & still misses the old Brownie cameras.

I bought this as a gift for my mom for Christmas. She's ecstatic. It is simple enough that she doesn't have to work to hard just to take pictures when she wants. The pictures are not the highest quality ever, but they are adequate.

I bought this camera for my 15-year-old daughter based on Nikon's reputation, the price of the camera and the features. My daughter travels often for school and extracurricular activities, so the size is perfect and the features on the camera are sufficient for what she will use it for. I don't have any regrets, thus far, and she is enjoying it. [...]

The camera took very nice images in auto mode as well as the various scene modes. I used it over the holidays to capture family and friends in a variety of settings from action to low light and all the image looked great! I found the large LCD to be very crisp and clear and everything about the camera was easy to use. Well thought out design.

Comments about Nikon CoolPix S3000 Digital Camera (Silver):
As a professional photographer I found this camera met my expectations for a point and shoot. The size is awesome...about that of a cell phone. The quality of the pictures and video are great. The LCD is sooo awesome being larger that lots of other cameras. The price was awesome as well. It is simple and easy enough for my mother (whom this was bought for) to use and not get overwhelmed with options and size. I would highly recommend this to anyone and when my old point and shoot dies...this will be my next purchase.

My main camera is a Nikon D60. I wanted a small camera that can just fit in my pocket when I don't want to carry around a SLR. It is a great camera loaded with options. So far the pictures have turned out great. Love the option of taking wide screen pictures. Great camera at a great price. My one recommendation is if you plan to take it on a trip and plan to take a lot of photos purchase the extra battery!
