The Nikon Coolpix S4000 Digital Camera (Plum) produces images with up to 12.0 megapixels of resolution, and incorporates a 4x wide-angle zoom lens. The 27 to 108mm lens allows you to take large groups in a tight space, and also capture subjects in the distance.
Shooting in low light is not a problem with Nikon's exclusive 4-way VR Image Stabilization technology that utilizes Electronic VR Image Stabilization, along with the cameras high sensitivity equivalent of ISO 3200, Motion Detection, and the exclusive Best Shot Selector (BSS). This ensures that your photos will always look great - regardless of lighting conditions or subject movement.
For difficult image situations the camera offers 16 different scene modes. If you are not sure which to choose the Scene Auto Selector will make the decision for you. Nikon's Smart Portrait System ensures beautiful portrait and people shots by combining Nikon's innovative smile mode, Blink Warning, In-Camera Red-Eye Fix, D-Lighting, Skin Softening, and Face Priority AF technologies. Furthermore, the S4000 includes Nikon's Coolpix Software Suite for organizing, editing and sharing your photos.
The bright, high resolution 3.0" LCD Touch Panel provides a wide viewing angle and an anti-reflective coating that allows for easy composition and viewing of photos even in direct sunlight. The ease of control over the array of functions gave us instant utility using the touch-screen. Great results from the first photo! We shoot family and pets and the smile sensor and face-frame feature were an instant hit. The only challenge we found was its compactness made it so convenient we had to make sure the strap was on our wrist at all times.

This camera was great with taking pictures but I replaced my other Nikon coolpix camera with the S4000 due to a lense error, my friend also had the same problem with the older camera and so we both replaced them with this camera only to find out these both had lense errors as well only weeks after buying them.I take very good care of all my products, phone, iPod, camera etc. so when I experienced having to replace my camera twice after the same problem I'm not too thrilled. I won't be buying from Nikon any longer and I don't recommend the brand.

I haven't got to use the camera too much yet but from the testing I've done with it, it's awesome! It's really compact and the picture quality is excellent. Really worth the money. The touch screen took a minute to get used to, but if you're used to using a touch screen phone, it should be easy.

I bought these cameras for my kids. One is an early teen and the other is a pre-teen. Both of them find the camera simple to use and they love the on screen editing features. For the kids and the price this one is hard to beat.
More hardcore photogs will not like the slow lag time between in continuous mode. Image quality is OK for the price, but if you want high quality images you will need to look elsewhere.
