The Nikon CoolPix S6000 offers a wide (7x) 28-196mm equivalent zoom range coupled with 14.2 megapixels of resolving power, and a bright 2.7" LCD.
To ensure sharp, usable pictures under any and all lighting conditions, the CoolPix S6000 features a 4-way VR optical image stabilization system, the ability to boost ISO ratings up to 3200, and Nikon's Best Shot Selector (BSS) that quickly captures 10 exposures and automatically edits and saves the sharpest of the batch.
For capturing the fastest of activities the CoolPix S6000 can also capture up to 3 fps for up to 45 exposures (at 3MP).

I'm not very technical when it comes to photography, so when I set out to buy a new camera, I really didn't know what to look for. Having lost my previous (and more expensive) camera, I was attracted to the CoolPix because of it's affordable price and it appeared to have all the specs of my previous camera....except that the CoolPix viewing screen was bigger and it looked a lot sleeker. Sold. It was so easy to use that I haven't even opened the users manual yet, but I will soon, because it seems to do a lot more than I had initially thought. The first time I used it, a friend of mine, who's a photographer, was so impressed with how clear the pictures were he asked me how many megapixels it was. As I stated earlier, I'm not technical, so I responded that I didn't know, so he took the camera from me and inspected it to try to find this info on the exterior of the camera but he couldn't find it. He thought it was odd that a camera whose pictures were so clear, wouldn't boast it's megapixel size more blatantly. I still don't know, and I don't care. All I know is it takes great pictures and is incredibly easy to use. The video function is easily and clearly accessible with the push of one button. Like I said in the heading, the best camera I've ever owned.

I'm a home Inspector, take about 2 to 300 photos a day. Need a camera that I can operate with one hand, easy to use and that the Battery last longer than most. All of my previous cameras used AA's this was the first that has a Preparatory battery - Nice job on the Battery.
Very easy to use.
From day on the Shutter stick open, takes a pretty good photo, fairly easy to use and for the Price, I would recommend it.

My wife wanted a small camera to throw in her purse and always have with her. Considering she and the kids have broken 3 other digital cameras in the last 4 years, an expensive camera didn't make sense. The camera works fine and takes decent quality pictures. I have large hands, so the buttons are not friendly and holding it feels like holding a thick credit car, but it works for my wife.

For me, this is a toss in my purse so I always have it with me camera. I have three, very active boys and I love the super fast startup time with this camera. In fact, this purchase is to replace the same model that I have had for 18 months or so before my youngest son sat on it!
It is not the best camera in low light, but I really like the fact that it is ready to shoot almost as soon as I press the on button, and that when I press the shutter button it takes the picture then and there - no crazy delay that makes you miss your shot entirely.
For me, it is the perfect toss in my bag, always have it ready camera. I was dissapointed to see that Nikon had discontinued it and didn't really replace it with anything with a nice fast startup like it has, but I was thrilled to find a refurbished one here at B&H.

I'm no pro photographer but I take my camera with me everywhere and this one is perfect for what I do. I work in a garden and it does an incredible job with everything from close-ups of plants to action shots while volunteers are working. So far I have been very impressed with the quality of the photos. I especially love the very fast processing time between pictures which makes it easier to take multiple photos in a row. It is extremely compact and easy to slip into my pocket. Selecting a shooting mode can be a bit of a hassle... This camera requires you to open a menu screen and search for a mode, rather than just flipping a switch. Overall, though, I'm definitely a satisfied customer.

This camera does it all. It works great for a camera that fits in your pocket and you use to catalog things. I was amazed that after taking pictures you can zoom in and read things from across the room. I wish my eyes could see this well. We took pictures of some awards on the wall about twenty feet away and forgot to label the names. Later we used the camera to zoom into the already taken images and it read as if the awards were in our hands. This is a purchase that I will recommend to my friends and family.

I bought this camera as an easy-to-carry backup to my Nikon D70s. It's small enough to carry anywhere -- I kept it in my pocket while snowboarding. The picture quality is quite clear, particularly outdoors. It's easy to use and my pictures look like they were taken with a much more expensive camera.
There is a bit of a lag to write photos to the flash card - more so than the Canon Powershot that it replaced (because he lens stopped responding) but for the price it is really better than i expected.
