The Nikon CoolPix S6000 offers a wide (7x) 28-196mm equivalent zoom range coupled with 14.2 megapixels of resolving power, and a bright 2.7" LCD.
To ensure sharp, usable pictures under any and all lighting conditions, the CoolPix S6000 features a 4-way VR optical image stabilization system, the ability to boost ISO ratings up to 3200, and Nikon's Best Shot Selector (BSS) that quickly captures 10 exposures and automatically edits and saves the sharpest of the batch.
For capturing the fastest of activities the CoolPix S6000 can also capture up to 3 fps for up to 45 exposures (at 3MP).
Other image-enhancing features found the Nikon CoolPix S6000 include an EXPEED Image Processor, macro shooting down to 1.2" from the front lens element, Face Priority AF for up to 12 faces, Skin Softening for more flattering portraits, Advanced Flash controls, and a Creative Slider that enables you to easily adjust the brightness, saturation, and color hue levels of your pictures in-camera.

camera seems great,user friendly,great features, unfortenatly after opening it up christmas morning & turning it on after charged up, the shutter wont open all the way, we tried it many times but it kept sticking[...] other then that the camera seems to be pretty good !![...]we used it anyway to take a few pics,they came out great except some of pic was cut off do to shutter 1/4 way closed.

this is a very good pocket camera. It is small enough to keep on your person at all times and powerful enough to create some very satisfying results.
It's 7x zoom is fantastic. We are pulling in pictures of birds in our gardens which was a real surprise. I have a $1500 400mm lens for my slr that I usually rely on for birding. getting some thrashers, wrens and robins with something from the breast pocket is nigh unbelievable.
The menu is easy to read and the LCD makes reviewing photos very pleasant. We adjusted the shooting saturation and added some saturation for capturing Spring flowers and the results are very satisfying.
We use this camera for capturing memories for our computers and Face Book. The Nikon S6000 is absolutely terrific for doing these things.
