The Nikon Coolpix L22 Digital Camera (Red) produces images with up to 12.0 megapixels of resolution, and incorporates a 3.6x zoom lens. The 37 to 134mm telephoto coverage gets you close to the action while capturing expansive landscapes.
Shooting in low light is not a problem with Nikon's exclusive 3-way VR Image Stabilization technology that utilizes Electronic VR Image Stabilization, along with Motion Detection, and the exclusive Best Shot Selector (BSS). This ensures that your photos will always look great - regardless of lighting conditions or subject movement. If your subject is better seen in motion, the camera captures high quality movies with sound.
For difficult image situations the camera offers 16 different scene modes. If you are not sure which to choose Easy Auto Mode with Scene Auto Selector lets the camera automatically select the best setting to get great picture. Nikon's Smart Portrait System ensures beautiful portrait and people shots by combining Nikon's innovative smile mode, Blink Warning, In-Camera Red-Eye Fix, and Face Priority AF technologies. Furthermore, the L22 includes Nikon's Coolpix Software Suite for organizing, editing and sharing your photos.

Where ever I go this camera goes with me. I use it for quick snapshots and many landscape photos to capture the scenery and the atmosphere of where ever I may be at the time. For this I reccon it is ideal. I love how compact it is and how fantastic the quality of the photos are. It is easy to use and also has many functions to play around with. The varieties of colours are great. To be honest I haven't found anything bad about it yet... and I have a feeling that it will stay that way.

It is not the most user-friendly camera. Difficult & timely to change the few basic settings it has. The most disappointing aspect of this camera is that its pictures are randomly good & poor. You never know when a good shot will come out despite the same settings in the same light, on a tripod for two consecutive pictures. It is not consistent. When it takes good pics, the camera is worth the price but the hassle the rest of the time proves that it is not.

This camera is currently backpacking through South America. It's light and so far seems to be durable. It's not waterproof/resistant so it stays in a dry bag. The battery life could be better.

The Nikon L22 is an excellent point and shoot camera; easy to use and takes beautiful pictures. There is no viewfinder, which allows room for a very large and sharp LCD screen on the back. Automatic mode takes high quality, 12 MB pictures in all light conditions. 3.6x optical zoom is higher than found on most and shoot cameras. Uses AA batteries which are easy to find worldwide. Thin enough to fit in pocket, but thick enough to be held with stability. Interesting feature lets you know if someone in photo had their eyes closed.

Battery latch is cheap plastic and broke very easily. Sent to Nikon for warranty repair, and they wanted more money to repair than what I paid for the camera. They did not feel it was a warranty issue. This is my second (and last) Nikon point and shoot. Will not buy another Nikon. Search the internet and battery latch problems are common with this camera.

I use the camera as an on hand quick shoot camera (I also own two Canon Digital SLR cameras for more in depth work). I find that it has more functions and features than most point and shoot digital cameras, but the biggest downfall for me is that the flash is overpowering - it washes things out too easily. Other than that, for the price I really can't complain.

I bought this camera for my mother. She didn't want anything complicated to use. I took it to her and she was thrilled with it. It is easy for her to use. There was only one problem she had trouble opening the compartment for the batteries and memory card. This could use some tweeking to make it a little easier to open. She hasn't had it even a week now so only time will tell. I like it and would love to have one of my on. The red color is striking.
