The extended battery 9 cell vs original 6 cell has much more run time enabling going with the pluging in posible. It added 2 hours at 6 vs 4 hours on my 16.5" Sony Vaio
The battery also position the laptop at a better angle for use, slightly back side elevated, lower in the front (normal keyboard layout). This Sony battery unlike a thrid party battery I purchased works without modifying the software, updating the operation system made the softwre changes stop working and the battery could not be used. Sony has software that can detect a OEM battery and will not power up with a non OEM (Sony) battery. I carry my original battery as a backup so my laptop because a dead laptop is just a paper weight! The large laptop is heavy alredy so the battery difference is not notice.

A laptop with a one hour battery life and a "large" capacity battery that only increases a one hour charge time by 50% comes up a small in my opinion. I was hoping to get at least three to fours hours total charge time from a "large" capacity battery but doesn't happen.

The first one from sony lasted only a year before it wouldn't hold a charge. Per charge, it lasts about 3.5 hours which is pretty good for a 16" laptop.

I've just plugged this new battery in my laptop SONY Vaio SR19 and it's been working fine compared with other batteries (not original) which have problems with compatibility (firmware). This battery is large capacity, so my laptop can run now about 5 hours on one charge. Another nice thing is that this battery jut out the laptop case from below and this lifts the back part about 1 inch over the table. I'm sure this provides better ventilation to the computer and makes it more ergonomic to use the keyboard.
So I would suggest this product to everybody with such laptops. You won't be disappointed.

This product is OK as an upgrade. It doesn't increase the battery life drastically, but if you are desperate to have battery life longer than what you have this product can help you. On full power my VAIO netbook lasts about 2-3 hours.

Wish I didn't have to purchase this for my new sony. The sony laptop that I purchase only has 2.5 battery life. Getting a better battery is ideal....you could always use more hours on a battery (especially for travel purposes). Only wish I chose a sony that had more battery life. Next Purchase!!

Purchased the extended battery because I really needed something that would help me make it through the day. Standard battery pretty much was good for 2-3 hours, on average. Extended battery puts me between 6-7 hours.
Adds some weight, but what doesn't.
