I am using this on an old dell laptop that has a broken internal card, I didn't want to spend any effort fixing the laptop, but I needed sound.
When the laptop finally dies, I'm sure I will still get some use out of the Turtle Beach adapter -- just unplug it and plug it into something else that has USB output but no sound.
Turtle Beach is known for making high-end audio solutions, so I assumed this would work better than the no-name product at half the price, but what sold me is that there is a flexible connection between the USB plug and the audio ports on the adapter, so that my USB port is not getting mangled by lever action from my looonnng plug (1/4 plug-into-1/8-adapter) which is the reason my original laptop sound plug failed, too much wrenching from movement of the cable.
With a fairly good set of headphones, the audio output sounds exactly as I expect it to, no surprise, it's good sound. I expect the microphone input will work the same.
It just works. Plug it into your usb port, wait a moment to be recognized and installed, automatically, and you have sound from your USB port.
If you are looking for something like this, well, that's what this is. Works exactly as you would hope it would.

I do location audio recording and editing on a notebook computer. With typical overcompressed audio that hovers near paek amplitude, the built-in headphone jack is OK, but with audio that has a more realistic dynamic range, it's anemic. I'd hoped that the Turtle Beach USB adapter would have more punch, but it doesn't. If you don't have a built-in headphone jack, it's useful.

Comments about Turtle Beach Audio Advantage Amigo II USB Sound Card & Headset Adapter:
I bought the unit for one purpose only, sound in the computers at work. I work at an RF board test station and while working we're allowed to listen to an intranet AM/FM/TV "receiver". Recently we moved to new stations and although there was sound on the computer's MB, there was no connection to the outside world. Getting any IT support for the sound would be all but impossible and that's where the Amigo II comes in.
This little device is a no-brainer, simply plug it into a USB port on a Windows (in this case we still use XP) machine and instant sound. No install disks or hassles, just plug it in and go! I worked on the station next to my usual one and just plugged the Amigo in there as well. The unit easily fits in your pocket and doesn't require a power supply.
I can't imagine a better solution for my situation. The unit is supposed to work with Win or OSX and although I use Mac computers at home, I don't need the Amigo there and am unlikely to bring the unit home from work anytime soon.

The adapter fixes the missing "microphone-in" port of my MacPro. I use it in connection with a Sennheiser PC360 headset. It works very well and the sound quality is good.
There is no need to install any software.

I use the amigo to connect an XBOX turtle beach headset to my ps3. The product is great, it allows the microphone to work very well with my playstation. The only issue that I have with this product is that it does not play the game sounds, when connected to the amigo only voice will work. Alternatively if you chose to plug the headset part of the headphones into the tv you will hear the game sounds but none of the voice. BH video offers a great price on the Amigo 2 [...]The Amigo 2 is not something that can be found easily within Canada.

Have an old Dell laptop with damaged headphone out which caused the speakers to cease functioning.
I plugged this baby in and can plug in external speakers or a headphone with no problem. No software needed.

I ordered this because the headphone jack on my Macintosh no longer works. Turns out the sound is much better through a USB adapter anyway. I'm happy with this product compared to other USB sound cards I've had in the past because it seems much more durable. This likely has to do with the cord between the plug and the sound card, which adds some slack and seems to lessen the strain on the actual plug. So far, so good. Also, no driver installation necessary.

My laptop was damaged and I was searching for a way to connect my laptop audio to speakers and I heard about this wonderful device. Went to B&H and got it. I was little doubtful about its performance, but once I connected it, it was just awesome. No performance issues in my netbook because of this and also no audio disturbance or anything. I am happy to be using this product and will definitely recommend this for anyone. It needs a USB Slot to connect to your computer. So, if you dont have free slot, it might be a negative point for you. Luckily I had a slot and didnt feel it as pain.
