I use the Micro II for the digital output feature on my Inspiron laptop. It didn't come with a sound card, and I still wanted to be able to use my studio monitors away from home. The device is compact and unobtrusive. Had to install drivers from the turtle beach website because windows 7 didn't have a native driver for it (weird for a USB sound device...). Everything is great. My only problem is that the card adds a LOT of gain to the signal and this can't be adjusted in any way. The software that runs in the toolbar has a volume control that doesn't change anything. I had to set the volume down in windows as well as turn down my speakers/monitors. And then when I switch to headphones I have to lower the system volume even more. It's a minor quibble, but one that I thought I'd point out. Also, the signal is 48kHz (perfect for music, movies, etc), but everyone looking for those ridiculously high sample rates (and beyond audible frequencies) should look elsewhere.

Worth the price
It works, though sound quality is average for my opinion. I would say it is a little bit harsh on ears. It often looses connection with my headphones, when I change position. Anyway...Read complete review

For the money this is a real problem solver. I use with my headphones and it has greatly increased the volume on my laptop. Also plug in a cable to my surround sound from my laptop and this also works well. Enjoying the product with no regrets.

I bought this to work with my laptop and virtual dj so that I could listen to the cue through the headphones and have the main mix come through my laptop speakers. I needed this because I would always hear the cue and the main mix at the same time and this works perfectly. It separates both channels and best of all, without switching to mono sound! Works great

I use this to connect audio from my laptop to my 5.1 A/V receiver. I plugged it in, Windows 7 loaded the built-in drivers, and away I went. Can't ask for more than that.
Great for the price.
If I had to supply a "would be better if" it would be if you could control volume from the PC, I have to use the volume control for the A/V receiver, but I don't think that's of function of this product, but rather the Windows driver.

Have a netbook i play music from, but the output sounded awful. Threw one of these bad boys on the usb and it was instantly recognized by the computer, no drivers to install. It was easy to install and greatly increased the sound quality of the output. Would recommend to anyone with a cheap sound card.
