I just spent 4 days in Washington, DC visiting many museums, monuments and historic sites. My wife and I took over 200 shots with the SD4000. Only a few were discarded. This camera works beautifully both indoors and outdoors. The F2 lens is what sold me. The indoor shots without flash come out as good as the ones I took with flash. In the past many shots would have required using an SLR.
I spent years carrying SLR cameras, extra lenses etc. Too much weight when you're supposed to be enjoying yourself! I swore that from now on if I can't put it in my pocket it's not coming. I think that Canon has finally achieved something in a sub-compact that's head and shoulders above the competition.

I bought SD4000 to replace SD410 that broke after many years of service. My primary use of P&S camera is to take snapshots and display/view them on computer screen. The old SD410 was perfect for that. SD4000 can do it too, but I was expecting more from a newer camera. SD4000 has some nice features, better video, easy aperture and iso control, but I find that IQ just does not seem as good as my on old 4MP P&S, perhaps the lens is of worse quality? I don't know whether to recommend this camera or not.

The sensor may 'only' be a 10.0 Megapixel CMOS Chip, but it fantastic... A lot of Cameras now are keen on more & more Megapixels some of the competeing point & shoot have greater tban 14 Megapixel. But the Canon SD4000 CMOS Chip is just fantastic..!
We had to replace our Canon SD1000 this Chrsitmas due to it being lost on Holiday & the SD4000 is a big step up in performance, quality & userbility.

I started my digital camera career with a Sony Cybershot (which was great), and went to a Canon (which was awesome) then to a Nikon and then to an Olympus - now I'm with this Canon and absolutely love it. It takes great pictures in low light, and does a great job on the go. It's auto-focus feature is great, but sometimes you have to take two pictures to get it right and not have it fuzzy. But I think that's operator error more than the camera. I prefer the older model square type Canon as you can hold it better, but this is an all around great camera! And a very long battery life too!

We bought this camera for snapshots of family and when out and about town. I have a very nice Canon SLR digital camera but wanted something for my wife. She wanted something easy and small that fits in her purse. This works perfectly for her.

I gave it 4 stars because nothing is perfect. I love this camera. I had a Powershot 550 that I bought in 2005. It has taken a beating (dropped on ground many times) and is still taking beautiful pictures. Only reason I bought a new one is to get HD. The new camera is fabulous!! Great pictures under any conditions just like my older Powershot.

Great, lightweight camera with all of the cool options that cannon has to offer on their point and shoot cameras. I bought this camera without seeing it at a store first and I was very happy with the ease of use and the placement of the buttons.

Good zoom and LCD. However, at this price a 10 MP camera with image stabilizing should provide better results when lighting condition are not optimal. A disappointment.
