The Canon PowerShot SD3500 IS Digital ELPH Camera features a high-resolution 14.1MP CCD imaging sensor and an optically stabilized 5x UA (Ultra High Refractive Index Aspherical) zoom lens, which covers an equivalent focal range of 24-120mm without compromising the narrow profile Canon Digital EPLHs are known for. And for composing, reviewing, and editing your photos, the SD3500 IS features a bright 3.5" (461,000-dot) PureColor System Touch Panel LCD, from which you can set exposures using customizable icons and touch AF/AE controls.
In addition to a choice of 12 JPEG file sizes (including 2 @ 16:9) the SD3500 IS can capture HD 720p(1280x720) video clips (with monaural sound) up to 60 minutes (or 4GB per clip) as well as 640x480 @ 30 fps and 320x240 @ 30 fps for lower-resolution applications.
For fuss-free shooting, Canon's Smart AUTO mode automatically analyzes the scene and sets the best exposure based on 22 predefined shooting situations. For shooting under low lighting conditions, the ISO sensitivity of the PowerShot SD3500 IS can be dialed up to 1600, and when shooting in Low Light mode, expanded as high as an equivalent of ISO 6400.
Other image-enhancing features found on the Canon PowerShot SD3500 IS include a DIGIC 4 image processor, Intelligent Contrast Correction, Motion Detection Technology, Face Detection Self-Timer, Red-eye Correction, Advanced AF/AE/FE/WB Face Detection, and a Face Detection Self-timer that enables you to get your own happy face into family portraits.
The Canon PowerShot SD3500 IS records images onto your choice of SD/SDHC/SDXC Memory Card, MultiMediaCard, MMC Plus Card, HC MMC Plus memory cards (up to 16GB) and powers off a rechargeable NB-6L lithium-ion battery, which is good for about 220 images-per-charge, or about 5 hours of playback time.

The big touchscreen display is not only cool, it's really useful as you can see much better what you're shooting. But what is really great about this camera is its angle. I took a picture in front of the metropolitan museum in nyc and I could fit all of the museum. The only thing that's not so great is the sensitivity of the touchscreen - if you are used to iPhone or iPod touch, it may take a while to get used as it requires some finger pressure on it. It's perfect for travelling as it is small but powerful. If you take hundreds of pics a day, I suggest an extra battery.

I really wanted to love this camera, and for the most part I did. The shutter lag in some instances was just too slow for me. I'd push the button half-ways down, allow it to focus, then push the button the remaining way. Sometimes it took the picture very quickly, other times there was a lag between pushing the button all the way and the camera taking the picture. The subject of most of my pictures is a very quick 2 year old, so I had to send it back because I kept missing pictures of her. Other than that, I loved the features of the camera.

This is the fourth Canon I have purchased and so far my favorite! I love the touch screen although it takes some getting use to and can be a bit sensitive. It's so lightweight and compact yet offers all the functions I would ever need for casual photography and more!

Comments about Canon PowerShot SD3500 IS Digital ELPH Camera (Silver):
I thought this canon model would be like the SD3510 ELPH but almost accept for the new touch system which I kind of like. Easy to use. I read the instructional book and I was proud that I could work it all by myself. I got so used to the SD3510 but this SD3500 is a lot more bang for its buck....Try it you'll like it...Thanks B&H..

Great point-and-shoot if you're looking for a wider-angle option than most in this class. The touch screen is fast and responsive and I like having the option to change settings (exposure, white balance, etc).

We travel extensively to African game parks and intimate gatherings. This camera captures it all quickly, easily and with lots of options. We love the wide angle. The photos are sharper than other cameras'images.
It has its limitations telephoto-wise, but this hinders photography only occasionally.

I have a Canon 40D and find it very heavy to carry around everyday. This camera is easy to use, the touch screen is great,a little slow at times, and the photos are good. I am still getting to grips with it but I know I will not be disapointed.

Over several years I have purchased several high end canon SLR cameras like the 5D mark II, 7D, and the 50D. For such a small, convenient and inexpensive canon, the powershot sd3500is blew me away when it came the 14.1 mega pixels for exelent image clarity and high ISO for low light conditions. I have blown up a few images up and they look great hanging on my walls and I didn't have to haul around a large camera to get such a great shot. The 3 1/2 inch touch screen is very nice to have as well. I really like the way you can zoom, stretch and scroll around the image by simply touching it. I have shown the camera to two differnt friends of mine that went out and got their own so I will continue to recomend my powershot to anyone who is looking for a great camera.

I find the touch screen feature to be most annoying and anything but easy to manipulate - nothing - I repeat NOTHING like an iPhone ...
Besides this annoyance - I think the camera is a great little dynamo.
I was debating between the SX210 IS and SD3500 IS and went for the latter on recommendation of a camera store and my daughter for whom I had bought an earlier version.
I'm totally frustrated!!!

I had been wanting a new camera and received this one for my birthday. I love the size of this camera and that it is super user-friendly. It is the perfect size to grab and stick in my purse for use at my kids numerous activities. The screen is large enough to see and review photos & I've really enjoyed the touch-screen aspect of it as well. It is great for video too! Pleased overall with this camera!

This is the best.. I previously tried Sony, Kodak, Nikon, and Olympus but out of all the cameras I used CANON is the best....
It is very easy to use and outcome is EXCELLENT.. I am not a professional photographer but with Canon PowerShot SD3500, I can open my own studio... No special trainning is needed to best pictures, camera will do this for you.. All you have to do is point and shoot to have the memory you can keep for years....
