The Canon PowerShot SD1300 IS Digital ELPH Camera (Brown) features a 12.1MP CCD imaging sensor and an optically stabilized 4x UA (Ultra High Refractive Index Aspherical) zoom lens, which covers an equivalent focal range of 28-112mm without compromising the narrow profile Canon Digital EPLHs are known for. And for composing, reviewing, and editing your photos, the SD1300 IS features a bright 2.7" (230,000-dot) PureColor System LCD.
Canon's PowerShot SD1300 captures still images in a choice of 6 JPEG file sizes (including 16:9) as well as AVI video clips up to 60 minutes (or 4GB per clip) with mono sound.
For fuss-free shooting, Canon's Smart AUTO mode automatically analyzes the scene and sets the best exposure based on 18 predefined shooting situations. For shooting under low lighting conditions, the ISO sensitivity of the PowerShot SD1300 IS can be dialed up to 1600, and when shooting in Low Light mode, expanded as high as an equivalent of ISO 6400.
Other image enhancing features found on the Canon PowerShot SD1300 IS include a DIGIC 4 image processor, Intelligent Contrast Correction, Motion Detection Technology, Face Detection Self-timer, Red-eye Correction, AF/AE/FE/WB Face Detection, and a Face Detection Self-timer that enables you to get your own smiling face into family portraits.
The Canon PowerShot SD1300 IS records images onto your choice of SD/SDHC/SDXC Memory Card, MultiMediaCard, MMC Plus Card, HC MMC Plus memory cards up to 16GB (not included) and powers off a rechargeable NB-6L lithium-ion battery, which is good for about 240 images-per-charge or about 7 hours of playback time.
The PowerShot SD1300 IS Digital ELPH is equipped with the acclaimed Canon Optical Image Stabilizer, which automatically detects and corrects camera shake - one of the leading causes of fuzzy or blurred shots. Even when zoomed in, you can get the steady, crisp, brilliant images you'll be proud to shoot and share. And the Canon Optical Image Stabilizer technology is so convenient to use. It functions perfectly with or without a flash.

B&H gives an accurate description of this camera which ensured I received just what I was looking for. My intention is to take this on a hiking/camping trip-it is light weight, has excellent zoom, and interprets color accurately. I originally shot film, so I love the control this camera offers the user. I can capture everything from an early moon rising to a honey bee on a drop of water.

The new PowerShot requires much more time, energy, and effort to get quality photos. Many images are blurred and the focus is not nearly a good as previous Canons. In the past, my family has been very happy about the quality of the Canon images, but we're starting to have doubts with the new PS SD1300.

Comments about Canon PowerShot SD1300 IS Digital ELPH Camera (Brown):
I'm currently a Botany major and got this camera mainly to use in the field and in lab so that I can review what I've seen without having to draw everything. If I want to go out and take artistic photos I will take my Canon DSLR, but this is perfect for a night out with friends or to use on a hike. It has everything I need for a simple point and shoot camera and then some. So far I'm very happy with it, especially with the macro setting for getting the small details of plants and fungi.

Easy to use, compact, a good price and some nice quality pics. Except when needing a higher speed like sports or running - then one looses the shot and or quality, but undertsandable that this is not an SLR
Otherwise, a nifty little Canon

The Canon PowerShot SD1300 IS is perfect for taking pictures of good quality every time.
Intuitive use, good finishes in form and design and in particular what I most like me, it's a choice between fully automatic or partially automatic, thus leaving something to the imagination.
Surely the worst of this camera is the quality that can make video, and a less preferences in the menu it is for the video, but the truth is, it's a 12MP photo camera, not a video camera.

I've had Canon PowerShot's before, so I knew to expect a good product. I was a little hesitant about the color, I thought it could look really great, or ugly, but it's beautiful! I haven't used the camera too much yet, but I've played around with the functions and everything is very impressive! I would definitely recommend this camera and this color!

I had an SD1000 for years - until I dropped it! The 1300 has all of the same great features - easy to use, easy to throw in your pocket and go. Great quality camera for the price.

Digital ELPH is my favorite portable cam. It always has comfortable size and user interface.I used SD450 (model of 2006) and SD780.On 3 this models "on/off", "shut" and "zoom" buttons has different size. On 3 this models (SD450, SD780, SD1300) "on/off", "shut" and "zoom" buttons has different size. The photo quality almost the same.

I am NOT a professional, but want clear, rich shots. This camera gives me that. I haven't even figured out the settings...I just got it and started using it right away and have gotten some great, clear shots. The price was outstanding from B&H..I met someone during Christmas that paid $70 more than I did (exact same camera) just two weeks before my purchase --from another dealer. Very happy with this purchase!

My first camera was a Canon elph that got stolen. After trying a few other little point and shoot cameras I decided to go back to Canon. This is a great camera. Takes low light photos, fast and small. A great price too. I have a digital slr, but this is my on the road camera or if both of us are taking photos. I am not wishing ... if only I was using my SLR all the time.

I am a semi-professional photographer and have a DSLR (Canon) and had a Nikon point and shoot. It was horrible in low light, which was what I wanted a little camera for (indoor pictures). I heard great things about this camera and it was recommended for low light without flash and it is great! I love using is and its small enough to carry around in my purse. The zoom on it is great as well and it is overall a wonderful camera that I would highly recommend.

I brought this camera for my husband because he's taken on the roll of the "family events photographer". He loves it! It's really easy to use and the pics come out very clear. The size is perfect and so are the feature's. Thank you Canon for creating such a wonderful camera that can capture the best moments of our lives!!

I bought this camera as a gift for my father for Christmas. I had a chance to play around with it while I was visiting and I was impressed with what this camera could do, considering the cost. The pictures were clear and the colors were good. The focal range was more than sufficient and the battery life seemed at least average. There was some blurriness with low-light photos of the kids, but that is to be expected with most point and shoot cameras. All in all, I was very pleased with the camera's performance and my dad loved it!

I loved this camera since sd1000.
and now, I absolutely love sd1300.
If you don't need high end models, this is one you want. You can carry this in your pocket and take pictures of your life, any time, night and day.
Good price for such a good camera. Canon is always my favorite.
Just one little thing, Grip is not very good. It may slip off your hand so always put strap on your wrist!

Canon no longer includes a paper manual, but the SD1300 did come with a fully charged battery and really doesn't require a manual. The optical viewfinder is not missed. Picture quality is great. The built-in flash is exceptional. I've owned a lot of cameras. This is the most camera I've got for the dollars spent.
