The Canon PowerShot SD1300 IS Digital ELPH Camera (Green) features a 12.1MP CCD imaging sensor and an optically stabilized 4x UA (Ultra High Refractive Index Aspherical) zoom lens, which covers an equivalent focal range of 28-112mm without compromising the narrow profile Canon Digital EPLHs are known for. And for composing, reviewing, and editing your photos, the SD1300 IS features a bright 2.7" (230,000-dot) PureColor System LCD.
Canon's PowerShot SD1300 captures still images in a choice of 6 JPEG file sizes (including 16:9) as well as AVI video clips up to 60 minutes (or 4GB per clip) with mono sound.
For fuss-free shooting, Canon's Smart AUTO mode automatically analyzes the scene and sets the best exposure based on 18 predefined shooting situations. For shooting under low lighting conditions, the ISO sensitivity of the PowerShot SD1300 IS can be dialed up to 1600, and when shooting in Low Light mode, expanded as high as an equivalent of ISO 6400.
Other image enhancing features found on the Canon PowerShot SD1300 IS include a DIGIC 4 image processor, Intelligent Contrast Correction, Motion Detection Technology, Face Detection Self-timer, Red-eye Correction, AF/AE/FE/WB Face Detection, and a Face Detection Self-timer that enables you to get your own smiling face into family portraits.
The Canon PowerShot SD1300 IS records images onto your choice of SD/SDHC/SDXC Memory Card, MultiMediaCard, MMC Plus Card, HC MMC Plus memory cards up to 16GB (not included) and powers off a rechargeable NB-6L lithium-ion battery, which is good for about 240 images-per-charge or about 7 hours of playback time.
The PowerShot SD1300 IS Digital ELPH is equipped with the acclaimed Canon Optical Image Stabilizer, which automatically detects and corrects camera shake - one of the leading causes of fuzzy or blurred shots. Even when zoomed in, you can get the steady, crisp, brilliant images you'll be proud to shoot and share. And the Canon Optical Image Stabilizer technology is so convenient to use. It functions perfectly with or without a flash.

The camera takes clear, detailed pictures with a highly powered lens. The fact that it has 12.1 megapixels takes a big difference in the clarity of the pictures. It is also quite helpful that it focuses on the points that you specifically want to be clear and are the most important part in the composition of your shots. I use this camera to take shots of people and places. Since it is quite compact, it is easy to take along in my pocket!
I would like to see a small carrying case with a pocket in front to be able to keep an extra battery in. There is no room at all for one in the case that it comes with now.
I do wish that there was a greater use of regular AA batteries in this, as well as most other, cameras. One is almost forced to buy a camera with an lithium ion battery and they are quite expensive to replace. Yes, you can re-charge them, but soon enough, it takes longer and longer to charge, and the charge lasts for shorter and shorter periods of time.

I love the color, the easy way to change the settings, and the all around simple uses. Although it is easy to use, it also does many cool things with complicated kinds of functions that are fun to experiment with and try out. I am very very happy with this camera because it suits all of my needs and I have an awesome time taking pictures with it!

I purchased this to replace a Samsung which was so slow and required recharging constantly. I just used it for a week in Florida. It is small and slender, quick to learn and the zoom is fantastic. I especially love the green color! Totally satisfied! B & H is awesome to do business with also. [...]

Nice and small, easy to use, and takes great pictures. I have a D-SLR and love it, but I don't like to carry it around all the time. I can put this in my pocket and never miss a shot.

Needed a small camera that fit in my purse as an option to my new 60D DSLR. Love this little powershot - takes great photos, lighweight, wide enough angle & zoom for my purposes (I use the 60D for serious photos).

This is our third digital Elf as my wife and two daughters have one. The camera is compact and well built and has the features you need. While the camera is certainly intuitive it will pay to read the manual, my daughter did so and brought back beautiful images from Europe. A great vacation camera where space can be a concern, good battery life but purchase a spare! Like all compacts keep the ISO's low for the best image quality.
