Most people aren't pros if you're buying a battery for the Canon T2i. It's the kinda camera that doesn't have a lot of features and lags on data writing to the card, therefore you're probably not using it for 3+ hours to take pictures if you're needing a second battery. If you do shoot some video here and there though you'll want to definitely get another battery because the Live View will drain the battery more than 4X as quick as if you were just shooting pics. Make sure you get a Canon because the off name brand ones sometimes don't communicate to the camera the correct amount of battery life left. Also a lot of cheaper batteries aren't rated to last as long and can have over heating issues. I've read stories and have actually owned off name brand batteries for other cameras. I've noticed sometimes that you can look like you have a full charge but actually are almost dead. You don't want that to happen to you when you're at a once in a lifetime event, trust me.

Worth a bit extra
Much pricer than 3rd party versions, but it is reliable, won't void your warranty, and you shouldn't need more than one or two extra as they last over an hour with a full charge...Read complete review

OEM Canon battery works great. Bought the extra battery for the BG-E8 battery grip, I haven't see battery level drop below full yet after approximately 2 weeks of use.

I love this battery. It always has a contestant charge that you can count on. I've run the same battery for 1.5 years and haven't noticed any loss of total charge. It charges fast too!

Comments about Canon LP-E8 Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery Pack (7.2V, 1120mAh):
Much longer life than any third party battery line. Holds a charge twice as long and last for years not months. Don't be fooled by the lower prices of other battery manufacturers, spend a little more and get something that is worth your time and money.

I use it in the T2i, I bought it here because [@] has so many bad reviews about getting imposter batteries. This is the real deal, Canon packaging with Canon hologram. Works great.

It doesn't last very much, but it's for a DSLR, so, you can't expect that much, for a batterie. I would recommend to have 3 or 4 of this, if your planning a whole day of production.
