I had been pondering over purchasing EIZO CG243W for more than 6 months before I made the decision to go for PA241W. At this moment I'm only one week into using it, but I couldn't be happier.
I purchased the monitor only version since I already own a Colormunki calibrator. The decision gave me a little surprise -- by default the monitor does not come with Spectraview, the software neccessary for hardware calibration as well as controlling the monitor settings via DDC channel of the DVI link. I contacted the NEC Customer Service, who confirmed that with the monitor-only version Spectraview has to be purchased separately. This is not a big deal since the software costs only $89 in the form of the download version. Still, it'd be nice if this is stated clearly on the item description of the website.
Spectraview is a very convenient software. It controls the monitor hardware setting directly, including setting the luminance level and loading the gamma table. It also works in a preset-sort-of way, i.e. you could set your target (certain luminous and color temperature, etc.), calibrate the monitor and thereafter set everything with a single flick in Spectraview. In my case, I've created presets for sRGB in different luminance values, e.g. 100, 120, 140 and max. This allow me to choose proper luminance in response to the natural light coming into my room in day time. Very convenient.
There's a catch though. In order to allow Spectraview to control Colormunki, one has to DISABLE the control of Xrite driver over the calibrator. Otherwise Spectraview would keep warning that no calibrator is found upon startup and one can't do calibration of course. To disable the control of Xrite over the calibrator, go to Control Panel and find "X-Rite Device Services". Double click on the item and uncheck the box in front of your Colormunki. Then restart Spectraview and the device will be recognize properly.
Overall, I consider this a very solid purchasement. Wouldn't hesitate to buy a 2nd one if needed, given its <1/2 price compared to EIZO CG241W.
p.s. For movie viewers or gamers, this is far from optimal an option. The response time wasn't optimized for such applications and as a result, you got blurred images for most of the moving scenes. Avoid buying this monitor if your main purpose is video-oriented.

Compared to my $300 26" HP monitor it is only marginally better but is smaller and seems to pump up red way too much, using the iPad and HP as a reference. And that is after calibration. It is bright enough to be seen from space.
It does have a nice stand and is easy to adjust and position.

Comments about NEC MultiSync PA241W-BK 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor with Wide Color Gamut:
I tried many different monitors at the local stores & at friend's places, and finally I decided to buy this monitor... and I'm glad that I did! It is an expensive monitor, but it's well worth the price with its factory calibrated accurate color reproduction, no color bleed and wide viewing angle. I'll recommend it to anyone who wants more than just a monitor, and definitely to people, who work with graphics or photos.

Comments about NEC MultiSync PA241W-BK 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor with Wide Color Gamut:
This monitor is used in a photo retouching business. We also have an EZIO CG241W monitor in use. I wanted to match what we have on the EIZO, so that we can confidently work on either monitor with the same results. Using the Spectra View software (purchased separately) seemed intuitive enough, but we did notice that plugging in the same values as used on the EIZO did not produce the same results, so we had to tweak some of the settings. In the end we got a good match, but we do not get as deep of blacks on the NEC monitor as we do on the EIZO. Given that the NEC was half the price of the EIZO, I can live with the difference.

Amazing colours compared to your average desktop monitor. Easy to set up and calibrate, although to do the latter easily you need to purchase the Spectraview software and colour calibration hardware.

Comments about NEC MultiSync PA241W-BK 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor with Wide Color Gamut:
I am a part time amateur photographer trying to go the professional route and it is important that I have a monitor that displays colors accurately. I did a lot of research on this product and it was recommended the best for the dollar. So far, I am pleased, except I am having trouble calibrating and it looks overly saturated. When I looked at the instructions, I still do not understand what I am doing wrong, so I am spending a lot of time on google trying to fix this problem. I am sure it is something simple, but I am not there, yet. So, I am sure that it is not the display, it is me that needs to figure out what I am doing wrong-that is why I gave it 4 stars.

Calibrated it with ColorMunki Photo. All adjustments were made automatically by the software rather than me having to adjust brightness, contrast, etc.
Colors are accurate and vivid. I only wish I had the money to buy a second one.

Comments about NEC MultiSync PA241W-BK 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor with Wide Color Gamut:
As a digital imaging instructor and professional photographer, I need a monitor that is both sharp and perfectly color balanced. I use the 1st monitor for my main image and dedicate the 2nd monitor (rotated 90-degrees) for all of my palettes and tools.
The only problem is that one of the monitors has three dead pixels (out of over 2 million) in one of its corners.

Comments about NEC MultiSync PA241W-BK 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor with Wide Color Gamut:
Used for it's intended purpose this display provides the serious amateur or professional with the ability to confidently make high quality photographic prints.
As NEC states "Designed for professional graphics applications, this 24-inch desktop display is ideal for digital photography, video editing, print production and any environment in which color accuracy is crucial."
For best results use a colorimeter/spectrophotometer for calibration and profiling. If you don't have one consider the model of this display which comes bundled with Spectraview II software and NEC colorimeter.
Not the best choice for a hardcore gamer.

Comments about NEC MultiSync PA241W-BK 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor with Wide Color Gamut:
I use my dual NEC Multisync PA241W monitors for Outlook, Word, Acrobat, our company CRM, Firefox and a host of other tools. What I really enjoy is the crisp detail of the images I'm looking at. The intense brightness and contrast. And, the fact that my Word and Acrobat images are 120% of actual printed size - side by side on one screen. It really improves efficiencies.
On top of that, using the Belkin Soho KVM switch, I have complete access to two computers with one keyboard and mouse, and it's all connected with a single VGA cord to each pc. I would have used Synergy without the Multisync advantage, but my work pc is domain controlled, which would not allow me to sync both machines virtually. As such, hardware was the way for me to go.
I do wish both my pcs were DisplayPort compatible for the best digital display capabilities. They definitely will be for my next upgrade. But of course, the KVM switch would need to be DP wired as well.
My only wish is that these monitors used less energy and cost half as much. Otherwise, they're dreamy...

Comments about NEC MultiSync PA241W-BK 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor with Wide Color Gamut:
Primary monitor for my photography business. I use it for everything from corresponding with customers to editing photos using CS5, CNX2, Portraiture, Portrait Professional, and many others where color is paramount.
The only complaint I have after having used it for a month is that the stand is so cheap that it makes the monitor wobble any time that I touch it. I like the monitor low to the work table, so when I reach for my mouse I often bump the lower edge of the monitor. It takes a few seconds to recover from wobbling.
The thing that is great about it is that I can tune the color to a perfect setting and then every time I return to the monitor, my settings are dead on!
Another plus about the monitor is that now I can see flaws in my photos that I could never see before with my Mitsubishi 21" CRT. This makes my output that much better today, as I see every blemish, dust spec, or flaw in the original image while I'm editing my photos.
Can't recommend it enough!

Comments about NEC MultiSync PA241W-BK 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor with Wide Color Gamut:
I bought not one, but two of these superb monitors. Not only are they wide gamut, featuring a gamut that that covers 98 percent of AdobeRGB, but NEC made them intelligent as well. Combined with NEC's SpectraView2 software, calibration is quick, easy and effortless. Not only does the built-in USB act as a hub, but it provides two-way communication with the computer. In my mind, these are second to none and worth the money. By the way, B&H has by far the best pricing on these. Don't even bother elsewhere!
