I'm a studio owner (30 years) teacher at PortraNet (8 years).
Other reviews said (expensive?) have you priced the 1000+ buck wifi from canon? These things are CHEAP and awesome. I shoot in my studio all day and all the images are transferred to my computer. (even deleted from the card after transfer (optionally) I don't ever have to copy my files. They're transferred all day. The reason Im' ordering a 2nd one now is to have one in the studios (outdoor camera) SUPPORT is great, when ever I had a problem they solved it by software update! (right away) and when we ask for features they come! (which is why they now have RAW support, movie transfer support and deletion of files after transfer. AMAZING for the money!
These newer X2 also transfer files in 1/2 the time of my previous eye-fi pro (4gb cards).

Works, But Full of Annoying Bugs
Does the product work -- meaning will it transfer photos from your camera to your iPad (or computer, etc.)? Yes, it does, and it does a very good job.

Does the product work -- meaning will it transfer photos from your camera to your iPad (or computer, etc.)? Yes, it does, and it does a very good job.
However, it is full of annoying design flaws and security issues.
The most annoying of these issues is that you have to be logged into the application on your iPad (etc.) before you can transfer files to it. If you have no network connectivity, you can't login. Thus, the app becomes worthless until you can get Internet connectivity and login.
I use the Eye-Fi only in direct mode. That means if my iPad has WiFi connectivity, then I have to go into the Network Settings and click on the Eye-Fi Network icon before it will begin data transfer. This can also interrupt any activity you are currently doing over the Internet on WiFi.
The iPad app also requires you to enable location services for the Eye-Fi application, even if you have geotagging turned off. (I use a far more accurate GPS to tag photos.) This is really annoying, as you continually receive Pop-Ups nagging you to turn on location services.
This brings me to the security issues. I have location services disabled on my iPad, because I don't care to be tracked by anyone and I don't trust app developers to keep any location information secure. As I indicated, the iPad Eye-Fi app demands that you enable Location services and incessantly nags you if you don't.
Also, the WPA2 PSK (pre-shared key, "password") for direct mode is so weak as to be beyond lame. It takes less than 3 minutes to crack it. Thus, it is only marginally better protection than doing everything in the clear. This is a serious security issue if you are concerned about photos being intercepted or tampered with over the air. There also appears to be no way to change your PSK.
I'm also VERY concerned that you are required to be logged into an Internet service to be able to use the device. I'm just waiting for the day when Eye-Fi has to inform everyone that their accounts have been hacked (remember Sony?). It's not a matter of "if" rather than "when" in my professional opinion (as a hacker). I can easily see a hacked Eye-Fi service being used to spread malware to both computers and cameras. It really annoys me to have to remain logged into the service to be able to use the device, even in direct mode.
Bottom line: If you only want to use this card to transfer photos between your camera and your iPad (etc.), and you don't care about security or integrity, the Eye-Fi card will do the job, but in a manner that is often clumsy to annoyingly difficult, and insecure.
How I use it: The main reason I got the card is so I can review pictures as I take them, using the larger iPad screen to see finer detail. I also use the Tiffen Photo fx Ultra iPad app ($5) to help decide what filter would give me the best image enhancement. From that standpoint, the Eye-Fi app is worth the cost and the effort needed to make it work.

Comments about Eye-Fi 8GB Pro X2 SDHC Memory Card:
The Eye-Fi card is a very cool tool. Apart from the geotagging, which works relatively reliable (about 90% of the time in the correct location) it supports the direct upload to both your Mac (PC) or to the Net, where you can directly share the pictures and videos you've taken.
I'm using it in combination with the Sony NEX-5N which supports Eye-Fi and you can actually see if the card is connected, uploading.
Read/write speeds are good for a class 6 card.
It also supports the possibility to add an ad-hoc net with an iOS device and directly view the taken pictures on that device. The only down side from my point of view is that both the MAC/PC software as well as the iOS version have on very limited functionality (on iOS you can't even delete transmitted pictures!)

Comments about Eye-Fi 8GB Pro X2 SDHC Memory Card:
I had no idea what I was missing. I'm spoiled already. I love having the pictures pop up on my computer screen as soon as I take them. When I took pictures outside over the weekend, it didn't take long at all for them to upload when I got in...and I took about 200--yep, 200.
I have nothing bad to say, just a little advice. I've learned that the closer the camera is to the wireless router, the quicker it works.

I am a pro shooter and instructor and use the Eye-Fi both for my own shoots (as a jpeg storage in my 1d Mark IV, my card in my Canon G12 for around down pocket camera stuff, and for instruction to shoot and transfer direct to Lightroom. All images are backed up instantly as well. Very reliable - and just way too easy.

Comments about Eye-Fi 8GB Pro X2 SDHC Memory Card:
Actually I bought this card for the Geo-tagging.
I believed it used a GPS. But that is not so. The card will under certain circumstances understand its location related to WiFi transmitters.
Hence no Geo-tagging in the fields, and no accurate positioning at all.
This is not pointed out in the description of the product.
The WiFi works fine on my Canon G12 camera. But when inserting the card into a CF adapter to use in my Canon 5D, The 5D cannot detect the Card at all.
The Wifi is fine. When entering my home, the WiFi connects to my home WiFi network already when in the car park. And the photos is loaded onto my home PC and uploaded to the Eye-Fi network album.
I have not tested the function on another WiFi network like an Internet Café.
I had no problem to set it up on my Win7 PC and my Mac OSX + Time Machine.
The lack of speed in no worries to me.Easy. I do not have to use a card reader or use a USB cable to connect to the camera. When opening my front door to my home, the photos are already uploaded.
Since I bought the card for the Geo-tagging function, -and that let me down, I will only give the card 2 stars.

it is a really cool product. all my pictures and videos are synced wirelessly to flickr and you tube respectively. awesome product! before i used to be so lazy in transferring pics .and videos to my computer then upload them. this way i can just take the pictures and when i enter my home and turn on the camera the pics are transferred to the web. videos are a bit slower since the files are much bigger and the transfer is over wifi. but it does exactly what i intended. the upload can be public or private if you plan to go through them and make the ones you want public. Awesome!!! :)

Great product. Works as advertised.
Never to worry about losing precious pictures again, now I can send a copy wirelessly into my Ipad for safekeeping before I reach home. And I can view them on a 10-inch screen! Sweet.

I have had this card for a week or so and have finally finished updating all of the software and firmware to get this card to work. The process is not clearly described anywhere and I am still to really work out how this will actually save time in my workflow.
I guess I will work out over the next few weeks how this could be useful.

If there were a -5 star option I'd tick it. Shoots like all is well, corrupts ALL images on card in a way thats unrecoverable by Rescuepro. Eye-Fi customer support is less than worthless, pointing to some buried clause in their warranty that states they essentially have no liability for any of your data. As long as they can format your card, then technically "it works" and corrupted images are your fault. Great people! The novelty is one thing if you're shooting backyard pics of nothing... DO NOT USE FOR ANYTHING YOU WANT TO ACTUALLY KEEP. Awful product, terrible customer support. don't waster your time money or images. The best thing that could happen to Eye-fi would be getting sued out of existence.

i bought this because i got tired of taking the SD card out of the camera every time i was finished
taking pictures. i was a little skeptical about how well it would really work but i gotta say i'm
impressed. i use a Mac and the software install was a breeze, if you are in range of your wireless
network every picture you take is individually sent to the computer within 3-5 seconds. if you are
away from your wireless network simply power on the camera when you get home and all the pics
are uploaded instantly.
as soon as i open iphoto it instantly imports all the photos and they are ready to view. this definitely
makes my picture taking much easier !!!

I had some reservations about this technology, but the instructions were easy to follow, setup was straightforward, and the Eye-Fi was working within minutes. My Canon EOS Rebel even shows wifi uploads in progess. And, it seems to be a very decent 8GB SD card even without the wifi.
So, at first it seems the price is high, but in the end it's a very good value.
