The sleek and stylish Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX5 Still Digital Camera (Green) offers many features that help you take impressive-looking pictures. The camera might be ultra-slim (only 0.7", 17.8mm) but the 10.2 Megapixel Exmor R CMOS chip will allow you to make big prints. The camera performs very well under low lighting via its High Sensitivity mode (ISO 3200), Handheld Twilight mode and Optical SteadyShot Image Stabilization.
Fast moving subjects are not a problem since the camera can capture 10 frames-per-second. This, along with Motion Detection that adjusts ISO sensitivity and increases the shutter speed when motion is detected, will help ensure that you capture the decisive moment. To really see your subject in motion, the TX5 can capture your videos via the HD Movie mode (720p).
The large 3.0" wide touch screen color display allows easy operation and viewing of images and movies stills, even underwater at depths up to 10' (3 m). The display gives you the ability to select the focus point with a simple touch, scroll through images by sliding your finger across the screen, and one-touch access to the menu. And, shooting in a tight space, the 25mm wide-angle Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 4x zoom lens will let you get your shot. Other user friendly features include Intelligent Sweep Panorama, Face Detection, Smile Shutter, Anti-blink, iAudio and many more.
We don't recommend dropping any camera, but don't worry (too much) if the TX5 should slip from your hand; it is shockproof for falls up to approximately 5' (1.5 m) and with its airtight construction it is dustproof as well.

It goes under water and it's small enough to put it in my bag. I love it!

Elegant and easy to use
This is a very smart camera (since I am not a smart photographer).
Have not had a chance to test the water proof ability yet.

Great Pics, 720p Movies, touch screen controls, and WATERPROOF!! If you are getting a point and shoot, make sure you get a waterproof one. Even if you don't do water stuff. Used it for snorkeling in Cancun and it worked great! Only 10ft max but do you need more?

Comments about Sony DSC-TX5 Cyber-shot Still Digital Camera (Green):
I bought this camera so I didn't have to take my digital SLR camera to Cancun with us. I wanted something that would stand up to a beach vacation and be able to take underwater with us. The camera was great. The outdoor and underwater pictures turned out nice. It also allowed to get pictures we would never have gotten otherwise. Just being able to take it into the ocean even if we weren't taking actual underwater pictures was great. Also not having to worry about the sand on the beach was nice too. We used it in the ocean and snorkeling it was probably in the water for at least 3-4 hours over the course of our vacation and it held up great with no issues.
The night time pics weren't always the best but overall it was great!

Comments about Sony DSC-TX5 Cyber-shot Still Digital Camera (Green):
Having purchased other digital cameras that are supposedly water-proof, I can attest this is the only one that lives up to the promise. Yes, you can't take it down 100 feet, but it is water-proof down to the promised 3 and even slightly more. This makes for fun family vacation photos, and splendid shallow water skuba-diving photos. Easily worth every penny.

Comments about Sony DSC-TX5 Cyber-shot Still Digital Camera (Green):
Mounted this camera on my helmet for motorcycle ride with great results... wide angle lens makes it particularly effective. Wanted to do this with my previous digital camera but was afraid to expose it to the windblown elements. Considered a Hero Cam but no confirmation of what you have until you get back to your computer. Mp4 video files play on my Mac in QuickTime... AVCHD files (.mts) do not. Love the sweep panorama feature... especially since the designers had the foresight to enable sweep with the camera held in the vertical position for greater coverage. This camera is a bit expensive but it has an amazing set of features for such a compact camera. Can't wait to take it snorkeling.
Don't like the sliding cover. Battery life too short (need at least 1 extra batt). Would prefer a dedicated video start/stop button like some other digital cameras. Want more choice of photo formats and file sizes. Also, for some reason, the camera keeps defaulting to the 2M (megapixel) mode when switching back and forth from Intelligent mode to Program mode.

Comments about Sony DSC-TX5 Cyber-shot Still Digital Camera (Green):
Bought this camera as a supplement to a DSLR for a two weeks trip to Italy. It can stand on its own as a travel camera but is especially handy for occasions that a big DSLR seemed out of place like dinner at restaurants. The "Intelligent Sweep Panorama" mode is indeed very easy to use and effective. Most of the stitched images looked perfect. But they have a little lower resolution that its single shot images. Battery life could be better. For a vacation trip, a second battery is recommended.

Comments about Sony DSC-TX5 Cyber-shot Still Digital Camera (Green):
Generally good to excellent quality photo's. After initial trial and error period,I took a chance and ditched my SLR for a trip to the Santa Barbara Zoo. I shot in all light conditions, with and without flash, and it didn't let me down. Crisp photo's, handy menus. You do have to be careful not to put you fore finger over the lens on the left side of camera.
