This came along with my purchase of Final Cut Studio 3 purchase. I was not even planning on watching it because I was very familiar with Final Cut Pro. After going through the tutorials though, I found out little tips and tricks when using all of the software that came in the Studio package and even learned a bunch about Final Cut Pro 7 which surprised me because I have been using Final Cut for over 6 years. What I like most about it is that not only does the DVD run through tutorials of the software, but it includes folders with movie clips and graphics to use and import into the programs as you go through the tutorial step by step so now I can use this to teach my volunteers at a church I run a production crew.

I must admit: I'm not a novice when it comes to FCS. I've used Final Cut Pro as well as the majority of the other programs bundled in FCS 3. However, I had never used Motion before, and I wanted a few pointers so I didn't blindly jump in.
The instructions themselves are great. The tutorials are relevant, extensive and extremely helpful. My major qualm with this product is it's presentation. The executable that the videos are wrapped in is slow, buggy and crashed my computer on more than one occasion.
As a whole, I think the price was right (this came bundled with my FCS 3 purchase). It isn't worth paying a ton of money for, but it does the trick and if you can put up with the occasional crashing, it can help you increase your productivity and streamline your workflow.

Comments about Class on Demand Basic Training for Final Cut Studio (2010):
I didn't really need much help with the FCP portion of this training video. As it says it's basic training, but I did learn a lot from it about the other programs (motion and sound track pro in particular). I also lent it to my friend who was just starting with using FCP and they found the FCP section of it to be very helpful

This came with Final Cut Studio, when I ordered it through B&H. Its a great DVD. I am new to Final Cut Pro, and this was a great way to start. Takes you through the basics of all the FCS programs. Gives you all the footage, to follow along and work the examples along with the instructor. If you are coming to Final Cut Pro, for the first time, this DVD is money well spent, to get you up to speed, and editing.

The instructions whip right along, so I found myself pausing and rewinding quite a bit. I recommend having a second monitor or a second Mac to play the DVD so that you can follow along with FCS.

Very helpful to beginners who are just stepping up from Final Cut Express. When I purchased Final Cut Studio I thought I would be fine, but once I saw it I was overwhelmed...thankfully, the editing kit I purchased came with this video and it was immediately helpful.
Comments about Class on Demand Basic Training for Final Cut Studio (2010):
The guy is enjoyable to listen to and he knows his stuff. As a free bonus with buying the Final Cut Studio, it sits on my bookshelf as a ready source for anything I need to learn or reacquaint myself with. It seems to cover the basics well enough that any question one would have is properly addressed or explained well before it's an issue.

Solid overview of FCP and associated suite of programs. But it will take much more than this disk if you want to get in-depth with the product, or with specific techniques.
