Currently using this adapter with the EX1. Make sure you update the EX1's firmware.
Absolutely no problems, simple plug and play. Use like any standard SD card. Transfer as usual with an SD Card reader. Make sure you're using at least Class 10 SDHC card.
A no brainer solution to the costly SxS & SxS-1 cards.
The only reason sony says use for backup purpose only, is that they can not guarantee the performance of the SD card you use. Get a name brand SDHC card class 10 and you are in business.

What a bummer Sony.
Second one is that because you can not use the SXS card reader, you must
use your camera to transfer the video files.
Third one is that you have to use a Sony clip browser to see the clips on your computer but you can not transfer them to a quick time so that you can edit them on final cut pro.

Comments about Sony MEAD-SD01 SDHC Card Adapter:
The Mead adapter works with some of the SDHC cards but not all. I have been in contact with Sony and they have been very nice to help. we have not solved the problem. So I believe it must be a problems with my EX1R Camera. Thank you for your help and conscientious reply to my exchange of some of the cards.

Comments about Sony MEAD-SD01 SDHC Card Adapter:
I use this in my EX1R. Works well for shooting but I use it to make in-camera backups of my SXS media. Pop in a cheap SD card and copy from slot to slot and voila you have a backup without needing a computer. Also allows you to send the footage home with the client right away on SD card with no worries of tracking down expensive SXS media later.

Comments about Sony MEAD-SD01 SDHC Card Adapter:
I use the SxS adapter cards more as a backup for the NanoFlash on my F3, but they work great alone as well. It is easy to pull out and dump off the SD cards by inserting into laptop without buying an SxS reader.
I don't like the small size of the SD cards, but I just bought the biggest ones that I could - 64 gig - so that I don't have to pull them until the end of the day in most cases.

Works with Sony XDCAM and Sony Express card series.
Fits also the SONY PXU MS240 for PXU HC240 with the update version 1.20 for SDHC uses.

I decided to use SDHC card for second slot of my EX1R since one SxS card was expensive enough. so it is working great for a much cheaper price.

checked record and playback on my Sony EX3. Everything seems to work. 4stars instead of 5 due to the fact that card cannot be read by Sony SxS external reader. But no big deal since you can just pull the SD card and read in SD reader.

Works well with a SanDisk 32 gb SD card. Only drawback is you can't shoot 60 fps.

Comments about Sony MEAD-SD01 SDHC Card Adapter:
Using this adapter with my Sony EX1R. I also use two MXR adapters and have never had any problems with those. However, I'm a bit of a "SONY" freak and I wanted a card made by them. I now use this as my main adapter.
Adapter works perfectly with Sandisk Class 10 cards (the only ones I use in my EX1R) Was able to overcrank to 60fps and tested for 15 minutes. 100% perfect. (as expected)
The quality and construction feel a bit more "solid" than the MXR adapters. I have no issues with MXR but this is noticeably better quality fit and finish.
Overall, works fine!

This is perfect for the backup solution... I use 16GB and 32GB SXS and have this as the spare... Its recommended to use Sandisk Class 10 cards with this... The transfer rates isnt fast but again if its there for backup - who cares...

Works great. Hard to believe I spent $3000 on my two 32gig cards when I bought my Sony EX3. This works without a hitch (as long as you buy Class 10 SD card) and now I can just hand the SD card to the client at the end of the shoot.

Comments about Sony MEAD-SD01 SDHC Card Adapter:
A previous user claims to be a Pro but obviously isn't. This is an adapter to use common SDHC media. Why on earth would you expect it to be read in an SXS reader? Use an SDHC reader.
You have to use a Sony clip browser to see any EX1 clips on your computer including ones recorded on SXS. That is quicktime issue. VLC plays them fine. And log and transfer works well.
The adapter works fine in standard framed rates. So we only have to use SxS cards for highspeed. And SDHC media is becoming cheap enough to archive instead of wiping.

Comments about Sony MEAD-SD01 SDHC Card Adapter:
While Sony recommends you do not rely on these adapters as your primary recording media, they are perfect as an emergency backup when you have no choice but to use them. Haven't failed me yet and they are relatively cheap compared to the SxS media.

Fits perfectly into Sony PMWEX1 Memory Card Slot, and laptop PMCIA slot. Using a Class-10 16GB card to download video files. So far, so good.
