The router works superbly. Connects my laptop effortlessly and at great speed. Installation was easy if you have basic computer skills. Medium install effort if you are a total newbie but never difficult. My home is 2600 square feet and I can pick up the signal immediately even upstairs. I took my laptop outside to see how far it would pick up. My house sits on over an acre of land and I could pick good signal even at 150 feet away from station. My land is not even and slopes down but that did not stop signal. Make sure you set your security settings with a strong password, make it difficult. I noticed that I could pick up my neighbor's wifi but of course I could not access it because it has a password. I live in the country so if you live in the city or apartment you will pick up other signals even easier and they will most likely pick up yours so make a super strong password. The only con so far is that there is no user manual included other than a quick install brochure you have to download the manual. Other than this minor issue I highly recommend this router and especially for the great price at B & H photo!

As mentioned in the headline, the one I bought (as a Christmas gift) did not work. I set it up properly and after hours spent with tech support [...] Netgear, Netgear finally said that the unit was defective. I've since exchanged it for a new one and it has been working fine, with an easy setup. It's too bad however that we couldn't have it up and running for the holiday as planned.

I'm a professional photographer and I rely on my computers and network to keep my business running smoothly. I alway buy the best equipment I can afford because it usually pays off in the form of fewer headaches down the road. I choke a bit when the salesman told me the price of this gigabit router but the added speed over a wire was attractive. This thing is marketed as a SOHO piece of equipment and priced as such. It worked well for less than 3 months. Yesterday it stopped acquiring an ip address from my cable modem. And yes, I have tried all the standard fixes, I am not a newb. Now of course I am reading all manner of posts (online direct to my cable modem) about how unreliable the firmware is and really regretting my decision.

I am not tech savvy. I use this for my home internet. I was concerned that it wouldn't work well with my Mac devices. It works very well. It is replacing the wireless feature of my 2WIRE modem (which is a piece of junk). Installation was quick and easy and I immediately noticed a difference in the range that I received a signal on my laptop, and the speed.
I would recommend this product.

Working great so far. Really simple setup, and the range is incredible. I use it at my church which is huge (3 levels). We get can even get a connection on the bottom level and the router is on the top floor. Netgear always seems to make great products.

Use:
Home network with 3 wireless and 2 wired network devices.
Pros:
- The router was easy to setup and had 3 wireless devices and both hard wired devices connected all in 15 minutes
- Much faster than prior router (linksys) - typically maintains about a 54 Mbps rate as oppsed to 1/2 of that on my prior router.
- has not dropped any wireless devices while in use

- was expected a slightly stronger signal strenght to devices that are just in the next room however it has not affected the speed and connection.

Bought this because my new Macbook Pro didn't work well with my existing Netgear b/g router. The laptop kept crashing the router. Now my mac and 4 windows pc are all on the network. Setup was fairly easy. I wanted to keep all the settings from my previous router so that I don't have to reconfigure my computers. Four of my devices recognized the new router fine, but one computer needed some tweaking on the router changing the security settings. Best part of the router is the gigabit lan connection. I have a NAS and streaming videos and photos using the gigabit port makes a huge difference than 10/100.
