Comments about Glyph Technologies 500GB PortaGig 50 Portable Hard Drive (7200rpm):
After I had another portable drive fail I decided to spend a little extra for some piece of mind. So far this drive has delivered. It's nice and small which is nice. It also has multiple connection options which is great. I've used both the USB 2.0 and firewire 800 connections without any problems. This has mostly been used for editing with Media Composer and its exactly what I was looking for.
I have also used it with both Mac and on PC with Macdrive and it has worked fine.
I know if I do have a problem down the road I have 2 years of free data recovery

Comments about Glyph Technologies 500GB PortaGig 50 Portable Hard Drive (7200rpm):
I use this to stream project audio files to my DAW. When I first got it, it was twice not recognized by my computer. All I had to do was remove the power cord and then replace (while on). Turning it off and then on using the switch did not work. No problems since then. Small, fast, and dependable. I've put a lot of track loads on it and it works great. features a pretty blue power light and a convenient switch. Looks great too. Came with a snazzy leather case with magnetic snap. It has come in very handy transferring very large files from my old computer to my new one.

Comments about Glyph Technologies 500GB PortaGig 50 Portable Hard Drive (7200rpm):
I use this drive as my primary audio drive for pro tools and it's great! Small, quiet, and great customer support. I thought this drive came with a protective sleeve, but it didn't so I called Glyph and they explained that it was discontinued due to some idiots using the drive while in the sleeve and thus over heating. They said they still had them and sent me one for 5 bucks. Totally worth it as I do remote recording from time to time. They are coming out with an after market hardcase for the portagig in anyone is interested. I'll probably pick one up, but in the meantime it's nice that Glyph offered the old sleeve. Be sure to pick up a 400 to 800 cable if you plan to daisy chain a Digi003 interface.

Comments about Glyph Technologies 500GB PortaGig 50 Portable Hard Drive (7200rpm):
We use tapeless cameras for all our video shoots, so having a reliable hard drive is incredibly important. The Portagig drives are fantom power, compact, fast and easy to use. I never buy any other brand. The only issue I have is that they get pretty hot which when stacked on eachother is NOT good. But overall I would highly recommend this drive.

Comments about Glyph Technologies 500GB PortaGig 50 Portable Hard Drive (7200rpm):
This is the first Glyph I have bought, and I am very pleased. I was already a fan of Seagate drives but was really looking forward to all the connections on this bad boy. The hard drive is used for file transfer in the studio, and I also use it for file accessing during live shows while on tour. File transfer rate is fast and dependable. Has a power supply, or is bus powered automatically if not plugged in. Has on/off switch which is nice if only using for a back-up. Plenty of connections available. Design is real sleek, as well as the accompanying case. The only problem is that it gets quite hot, so keep away from heat sensitive gear and children.
