One remote to rule them all! Well, the Logitech Harmony 650 Advanced Universal Remote can replace five of them. Its colorful LCD screen lets you see what you're doing and offers conveniences like icons for your favorite channels.
It can control 5000+ different brands of devices. And the database is constantly updated. No, they don't give you a manual the size of a phonebook so you can spend a few hours trying out different codes. Instead, you just use the included USB cable to hook up your 650 to your PC or Mac and then connect to the Logitech 650 Web site via your Internet connection. Tell the site what equipment you have and the site will walk you through the setup.
The design of the Harmony 650 is intuitive and easy to use. But should you run into a snag don't worry. Live Support is included.

I am using the Harmony 650 for my new Samsung plasma TV and Blu-ray, older Yamaha AV receiver, and Scientific Atlanta HD-DVR. I am using the standard Q&A setup that the software provides and everything is working nicely. I was able to download most of the channel logo icons I wanted from [@] and they are impressive on the color screen. I made a few custom icons using their template and MSPaint. Pretty cool. The remote facilitates most activities with out a hitch. I had to diable Anynet+ on my Samsung products so they wouldn't 'fight' the remote. I'm very satisfied with result. The only hitch is usually user induced by not keeping the remote aimed long enough for sequence to complete. The HELP feature is a handy feature that corrects any out-of-sequence events. IE: my reciever is a toggle on/off and it may turn on when it should have turned off. Usually my mistake - easy fix with HELP feature. As I learn to use remote it gets more seamless.I am most satisfied to find this remote's button assignments very well thought out. No matter what activity I'm using, the remotes specified function buttons succeed in operating the correct device. In device sub menus, I find the seldom used functions. On one remote!!I was a tad dissapointed to discover the limited number of channels you can assign to "Watch TV" Fav Channels. Only 23. I would love to see this at 60 or so with sub folders for easy channel selecting. I have created a Watch TV 2 activity with 23 more icon ready channels. Switching between the 2 activities is 3 keystrokes - not great, but doable.Using the web-based software was straight forward. Programing and downloading to remote took probably 1 hour. I have to connect straight into my cable moden to update this remote because the web site software does not navigate routers firewall very well. This should be understood if you are using a router.I am pleased with the look and feel of this remote. No Regrets

This is my third Harmony remote, and I didn't buy my third because these guys don't know what they are doing. The ability to literally shelve ALL of your remotes seamlessly - to the point that even grandma can run the entertainment system - is priceless. However with the Harmony 650, they have crippled it a bit excessively by limiting your devices to a total of 5. If you have a TV, an AV Receiver, a cable or satellite set-top box, a blu-ray and a TiVo, you are out of gas with this remote. Nope - no second Blu-Ray, no CD changer, Nothing else. To me there's no good reason for this other than to push you up the stack to a much pricier remote.
Negatives: Very limited for number of devices you can configure.

This remote replace five of my remote controllers for my home theater system! It does everything for you by a simple press of a button! It's not the rechargeable model and control only 5 devices. But it's really a great product! Thank you!

I bought this as a gift for my parents (I already have one of my own)...they were amazed at the easy setup and use; the Help function literally guides you to the solution to any synchronization problems...so easy a child could use it and very attractive.

Comments about Harmony/Logitech Harmony 650 Advanced Universal Remote:
Purchased the 650 after reading favorable reviews, but have to say.. I'm not thrilled with it. Having more than my share of configuration issues, including having to submit another complete profile to Logitech as my original one got currupted. Also.. having a lot of issues getting all my remotes to work even the generic programes, i.e. "watch TV". It's taking me more time than I thought to get the programing correct.. and I still don't have it to a usuable configuration. Not sure, but unless this comes across as a stellar product in the long term.. I'm not happy with it so far.

I have a TiVo Series 3, a 4X1 HDMI switch, a Sony Blu-Ray player, and a computer all hooked up to a plasma, and this guy handles everything flawlessly. It feels nice and solid in the hand, and the onboard accelerometer lights the screen up any time you pick up the remote. The online setup is a breeze. Just a great product overall.

Using this to replace 4 remotes. It took about a day for the logitech computers to recognize me in MYHarmony. For that first day the remote could not be programmed. Of course there was no indication of this being the situation. Rather I would get error message to unplug the USB to the remote and replug it in and try again. All to no avail. On the second day it programmed correctly with no problem. 10 days later I'm still trying to get one of the single function buttons to work as advertized. The 650 did replace the four remotes. I like it but it's a long way from perfect.

Very funcional and easy to use. Great remote "copy" feature. It actually learns controls from other remotes and you get to name it's use. I own a multi-brand home entertainment system that I put together and the Harmony made the equipment work seamlessly together. After much research, B&H was much cheaper than anywhere else.

Comments about Harmony/Logitech Harmony 650 Advanced Universal Remote:
We don't really have one of the more complicated systems, but it is nice to require only one button to watch tv, watch movies, or play games. That used to take several remotes and button pushes for each task. It also simplifies things when the parents come over. Overall, its a great product, but does require you to know how to set things up through your computer, but I didn't find that too difficult.

Comments about Harmony/Logitech Harmony 650 Advanced Universal Remote:
It works great for the four components that we need to control. Lightweight, easy to read.
It was a bit of a struggle to get it to work with our satellite receiver, but after trying about 6-7 times, a solution was found.
We may replace some older universal remotes with more of this model so that we have consistency with equipment in different rooms.

Comments about Harmony/Logitech Harmony 650 Advanced Universal Remote:
My wife and I feel liberated, now that we have a single remote that does everything we want and does it easily. Now that have the Harmony 650, the individual remotes have been stuffed in a drawer. This remote is very user-friendly. It's easy to switch back and forth between TV and DVD player. to select favorite channels and to reprogram to add new equipment, change any function or change our favorite channel choices. We're only sorry that we didn't get it sooner. Although we've had no problem with it, we can't comment on its durability, since we've only had it for about 10 days.

Comments about Harmony/Logitech Harmony 650 Advanced Universal Remote:
The unit is promoted as one remote to replace up to five. That might be so after one fine-tunes the unit several times to "learn" functions that, although infrequently used, are nonetheless comfortable to use if all remotes sre available.
As well, programming various keys is well & good, BUT one must then remember which infrequently-used key does what.
Bottom line -- We'll likely use it but keep our other specialized remotes with reach.

Comments about Harmony/Logitech Harmony 650 Advanced Universal Remote:
Purchased this to replace an old Sony Commander which required you to be a rocket scientist to program, at least for me. The 650 was easy to set up over the internet. Worked on the 1st attempt and I am challenged by electronics. My wife and I spent a lot of time tracing the input setups from piece to piece which instructions said to get. Found that we really didn't need them. It works great with my setup and I have replaced 3 remotes. Great product.

Comments about Harmony/Logitech Harmony 650 Advanced Universal Remote:
This product does a great job replacing the four remotes I was previously using. Now I can do almost everything I need to do with the Harmony 650. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because there is no way to do a one click to get the list of my DVR recordings. I had to program a hard button while cable is selected and then to get the list I have to press the soft button to select cable and then the programmed hard button to get the list. There is no way to make the hard button active after you press "Watch TV" until you press the cable soft button. By soft button I mean the buttons beside the display.
There should be a button built-in to display the DVR list as this is a common button for cable and Dish network remotes.
