The Pentax X90 Super Zoom Digital Camera offers high-quality 12.1 megapixel imaging, and an amazing 26x wide-angle optical zoom lens. The lens has a 35mm film equivalent of 26-676mm. With this kind of optical power it does not matter if your subject is up close or in the distance. Composing photos is easy on the camera's bright 2.7" LCD screen with anti-reflection coating, or use the electronic viewfinder that has diopter adjustment controls to make it perfect for your eyes.
Auto Picture Mode analyzes your composition and automatically adjusts critical exposure settings for brilliant, hassle-free shooting. If you want more control, the camera also features manual, aperture, and shutter priority modes. The camera performs well in low light with Triple Shake Reduction Technology. This includes a mechanical sensor-shift mechanism, digital Pixel Track SR, and Movie SR. Your images will be sharp even under adverse conditions.
For taking portraits and group photos, the Face Detection Mode will quickly find up to 32 faces. If your subject is better captured in motion, no problem for this versatile camera; it takes high-quality videos, or stills at 11 frames-per-second.

Comments about Pentax X90 Super Zoom Digital Camera:
This camera has its limitations, but many of them can be over-ridden by reading your manual cover to cover six times so that you understand the camera's multiple setting. Right out of the box it works well, but I found the lag between pressing the shutter and actually taking the picture to be unacceptably long. Often the image I wanted to collect was no longer available due to the delay. If you shut off some of the accessories, such as smile detector, face detector, etc., the shutter lag times definitely improves. Changing focal modes also helps control the final outcome.

Bought this to take to my daughter's wedding at Disneyworld as I needed more versatility than my
old point and shoot. I was very satisfied with all the feature's and the ease of use. Excellent camera for the price!

Dear B&H,
I was an "old 35mm guy" slef taught to include developing my own black and white photos; moreover I am more thart a point and shoot person. The X90 fits my needs well. Its clear clean photo resolution and quick response in all light situations keep the quality of my work just where it nneds to be; at a high level. The price was right too. Its too bad the my Nikon F 60 will remain in its case yet a while longer! So far, since I have not used the X 90 for more than 45 days I cannot comment on its limitations yet.
Best regards,
James Mills

I bought this camera for its ZOOM capabilities. I was also looking for a camera with a lithium battery so I would not have to carry extra AAs. Its light weight and easy to use. Read the manual - you'll be surprised at all the features.

Comments about Pentax X90 Super Zoom Digital Camera:
I bought the X90 to fill a couple of lacks of my Pentax K10-D, i.e., a long telephoto, extreme macro capability and the ability to take videos. The X90 does the job very well and at a price that's right. The telephoto is good and crisp at even the longer settings and I find it great for bird photography as well as candid shots of people at family gatherings. For insects and flowers the macro is great and, even though I don't take a lot of videos, I find this one very easy to use. I've always been a Pentax fan and find that this new camera continues to have the quality I've come to expect from Pentax.

Comments about Pentax X90 Super Zoom Digital Camera:
I'm not the best photographer, but I'm confident that this camera does proffesional work despite being a point & shoot. If you need a good quality point & shot camera switchable to a full manual one, this is the best choice.I take a lot of pictures of concerts and runs. This camera's quality is amazing. It is also very easy to use. If you are a beginner and want a nice camera around [$] that's the way.

I usally carry the Nikon D80 with 18-135 plus 150-500 lense, but it gets heavy on long hikes. The X90 is great for times that I need the powerful zoom without the weight. The pictures are sharp and crisp. I've told a number of my friends and they may be in the market to purchase soon.

Comments about Pentax X90 Super Zoom Digital Camera:
This is a good, but not great camera. I have been using digital cameras for 10 years. Everything from Olympus (my first) to Panasonic Lumix to my Nikon D90. I might be a little spoiled with the DSLR and the fast focus and shooting capabilities that go with a DSLR. I do not want to shell out $8,000.00 for a great long zoom lens for my D90, so I am looking for a super zoom camera for great bird pics. So far I have found good cameras, and this one is good and has a lot of fun features, just doesn't focus fast enough for me. It would make a great vacation camera.
