I bought this unit out of desperately needing wireless mic. After checking too many reviews for any one person to read, I chose this one. It was right in my budget and even thought there were a lot of neg. stuff posted, I came to the conclusion that a lot of people want to be served champagne on a beer budget. It worked for me as good as I expected the signal was clear even with it being tucked behind the grooms vest, only a few brushing sounds were recorded as he moved quickly (I'll insist that the mic be unblocked from now on) I really don't know what other people expect, but I only need sound for as far as my zoom will go. If I happen to be fortunate enough to film someone at a football field then I should be making enough $$$ to get one of the better wireless setups. So ok, con; yea the sound is a bit tinny *fix; a better mic= more $$$ or just EQ it in post. The foam wind screen that sticks on is a bit cheap* fix; a better mic= more $$$ I just did with out it indoors and it stuck pretty well outdoors. And yea it's only mono* fix; a better 2 channel TX-RX= more $$$, or just do like I did and get a Y-cable (that will be another review) and hook up your wireless and your wired external mic and even though the wireless seemed to have a lot more volume, maybe cause I didn't have the right mic in the right socket, (I will be testing to see if there is a difference) a little post work will make it sound pretty darn good. I use my theater system, 5.1 w/400w per channel driving 4-12" woofers, 5-8", 3-5" mids. 2 of those electro peize not cheesy only the dog seems to hear speakers! And 2-4" horns. To test all my work! But does there seem to be a message in this review? This wireless system worked well for me. Maybe I'm lucky, got a raise day made unit or I just didn't push the limit of it! It did very well at 50' even a little farther thru some walls before it started to crack. I used it for two weddings so far, even on the same batteries. (they will be changed before the next use) bottom line if you want all the bells and whistles that the big boys have, then save your beans and get the big boy unit. But if you're a small start up with a low 2 no budget like me then you have crawl before you can walk. I'm Done!

I've used this Mic system for weddings and a few interviews and it has failed me too often to where I can no longer trust it. I shot a wedding with it and I got interference from the wireless hand held the officiant was using. Anytime the subject was more than 1 foot away I would get static, even during a basic sit down interview. Out of the 5 or 6 times I've used this mike it's gotten clean sound once.
The sound quality is pretty good, I'll give it that but it's constantly giving me static. I shot a wedding and thankfully I instructed the groom on how to shut the mike off because the instant the priest turned on his mike I had feedback coming though church speakers to where it disrupted the ceremony. It should be a crime to sell this product as a wireless mike system.

Comments about Audio-Technica Pro 88W - Camera Mountable VHF Lavalier System:
I used the mic with my consumer camera to record a dialog and procedure between a client and a patient. I normally us a $600 mic system but did not have access to the more expensive unit at the time. The Pro88W worked perfectly for what I needed. The sound was good and it picked up both people even over a lot of background noise. The quality of the mic and cord construction is poor and I expect to need to replace it in the near future but it will serve for now. I was only about 12ft. away and the pick up was good with no interference from the electronic equipment in the room.

We use 2 pairs of the VHF Lavalier system in an experiment where people where walking around with a speaker on an helmet, the aim was to train an neuromorphic system to track people using sound/image and compare its performance with human subject.
THe receivers were connected to a computer playing the source sounds et the receivers were connected to the helmets.
It works great!

I use the Pro 88W Lavs for general corporate "talking head" shoots. For the money they provide "big bang" for little buck. The range and quality are on par with the manufacturers specs. They even work great in pairs with no blead or squelch when in close proximity.

Comments about Audio-Technica Pro 88W - Camera Mountable VHF Lavalier System:
Overall, they work for what they say, but there are a few negatives. They do crackle a little bit. Also, there is no battery indicator which is really frustrating because you never know how much more juice that battery has. Also, there is no volume control for the input to the camera and no volume control for the headphone so be prepared for your ear to be blown out. But they are really simple to use and get the job done. I've actually got better sound quality on these than with a wired mircrophone.

I tested it a bit before using it for a wedding I was shooting and it had lots of interference and it was so bad at some points I can't even use the audio. Of course it was right at the vows. I had high hopes for this but it failed me.

Purchased the Lavalier mic System for my child film maker.
I have used the system several times for short auditions. Sufficent range for indoor work and the sound quality on the camcorder tape was excellant.

I will star with the frequency problems: Yes you can change between two channels. But if you have noise in both channels, you're screwed.
It uses poor quality connections. Use it for a year, and it will stop working.
Not for professional use.

Comments about Audio-Technica Pro 88W - Camera Mountable VHF Lavalier System:
I have not tested this unit but am commenting on its build quality. The description is CLEARLY misleading and warrants it being returned. Although clearly marked as having a metal construction, which is the reason I purchased in the 1st place, this unit is plastic and I was very disappointed and angry for this to be so.

Comments about Audio-Technica Pro 88W - Camera Mountable VHF Lavalier System:
You can only switch between two channels on these, so if there's noise on one, you only have the other. I also noticed it was picking up a lot of camera, zoom motor noise, but this may have to do with the 3.5mm to XLR output cable I got for it. My XLR inputs are fine for my shotgun mics, but this one cable generates a lot of noise--unless its some sort of frequency interference with the lav receiver I have mounted on my ag-dvx100b

Have been tethered to an extension cord until now, initial results have been excellent. No more cords, this is my audio gathering system of choice. Microphone is quite discerning.
