The "GT" in the Optoma GT700 GameTime 3-D Projector w/ Backpack doesn't stand for Gran Turismo as it does in racing cars. But it might as well, because the GT700 is one slick vehicle.
The "GT" here stands for GameTime and this projector has been engineered with one overriding idea: to be the best high definition projector in the world for playing PC, Mac and console games.
With 2600 ANSI lumens of brightness and an up to 2500:1 contrast ratio, this projector has more than enough projection power to project bright, vivid images when you can't achieve theater level darkness. And its WXGA (1280 x 800) resolution gives you that 16:10 aspect ratio for truly wide-screen games.
The Texas Instruments DarkChip3 DMD DLP imager is the heart (and brains) of the GT700. DMD DLP stands or Digital Micromirror Device Digital Light Processor. Those Micromirrors can move so fast (120 times per second) that they can produce two images, one for each eye in the time most systems produce a single image. The result: 3-D games that seem to leap right off the screen at you. You'll have to pick out the 3-D games you want and purchase 3-D compatible glasses and you'll be enjoying the most realistic game play you've ever experienced. (The GT700 cannot be used to display 3-D TV broadcasts or 3-D Blu-ray discs.)
When you're not playing games you can enjoy TV with images up to 25 feet across measure diagonally, if you've got the room. And those images can be in 720p, 1080i or 1080p high definition.
As much as it was designed to be the best 3-D gamer this projector was designed to move. It can handle all of the world's TV standards: NTSC, PAL and SECAM. In addition to being multi-standard it also has a 100 – 240 V AC 50/60 Hz autoswitching power supply and it has a 20 language OSD (on-screen display).
And just to make gaming on the move as easy as possible your GT700 even includes its own backpack carrying case.

Comments about Optoma Technology GT700 GameTime 3-D Projector w/ Backpack:
I have this projector connected to my PS3 system and all I can say is wow! The picture is great. It's amazing how I have it sitting only about 4-5ft from the wall it's projecting on and the screen size is over 60"! Haven't had a chance to try the 3-D yet, but very soon I will have to.
The only problem with it so far is the sound out of the projector. But I believe it is designed that way so it's a completely portable audio/visual product. But I didn't buy it for the sound anyways!
This is a great product and so far have not had any problems working with it. Plus the price is lower than what it really deserves. Kudos B&H

Comments about Optoma Technology GT700 GameTime 3-D Projector w/ Backpack:
I have about a 17 ft square family room with windows and ceiling ductwork. I needed something very bright so my wife would sit with me watching movies or (more importantly) my hockey games. She refuses to sit in the dark, and has to be able to read her magazines. The very short throw table top projector with 2300 lumens on a 109" 1.1 gain screen works great. Sitting 15 ft from the screen means I don't need 1080p for a clear picture. I never use the bright setting, as the color gets too muddy, and it should make the lamp last longer. The lack of adjustments mean you really would not want to put it in a fixed position from a ceiling mount. Small movement is a big change in the picture. And as it ships inside a backpack, it really is portable so I will be taking it to my remote cabin. The screen and projector set me back about a quarter of the price of the 61" sony rear projection 275 lb system I bought in 1999 that this replaces.

Comments about Optoma Technology GT700 GameTime 3-D Projector w/ Backpack:
I travel a lot. This means buying massive TVs is very impractical for me. I finally decided to give projectors a go since they're much more mobile.
This is currently set up in very amateur fashion on a table in my room (awaiting stands and other peripherals to properly mount it and tweak the image), but since I've had it for a good month or so, I can touch on some of my experiences with it so far.
First, this comes with a carrying case (mini backpack), power cord, lens cap, remote, and basic RGA cable. You'll need to buy an HDMI cord separately if that's your preferred hook-up (it's mine). The case is sufficient. The power cord/RGA/remote is as expected. The cap is pretty terrible (it fits like a rubber bike wheel cap that doesn't screw on), but that's a small quibble.
The image quality's been great on any resolution I throw at it. I don't use digital zoom (huge image degradation if I do). The image quality without zoom is great (minimal pixelation) and it's everything I expected it'd be. I'm sure when I actually mount the device at the specced distance from the wall it'll be even clearer.
It runs quietly (except during shutdown) and relatively cool. Don't keep it in warm places though, because while it doesn't overheat like an overclocked CPU, it's definitely not cold either and you might end up decreasing its lifespan.
The projector's speakers are what you would expect from a 5W built-in speaker: so-so quality, so-so bass, so-so volume, so-so everything. Invest in real speakers. But if you're taking this to a friend's and don't want to mess with setting things up, it's great convenience.
The colors are very rich and vibrant about 2 minutes after startup. There's also settings to adjust the colors depending if the source is a movie/game/etc. and the default selections work great. The blacks are a bit bright/off-black, but if you can live with that, it's nothing to scoff over. Especially for a <$1000 projector.
The only complaints I have with this are the lens cap and slight blurriness of the image (despite no digital zoom / correctly adjusting the lens focus). It might be a result of where I'm positioning the projector or my laptop's resolution, but I haven't had a chance to test the reason. I suspect it's just the projector. Still, it's nothing that breaks the viewing experience.

Comments about Optoma Technology GT700 GameTime 3-D Projector w/ Backpack:
So far I love this projector. Set up was incredibly easy, it hooked up to both my xbox and google tv without any problems. The image is much clearer than I had expected and because of the short-throw, you really don't need much space for a good sized image.
It's my first projector, so I don't have much to compare it to, but so far it's amazing. Only downsides are no autofocus, and no lens shift.

Comments about Optoma Technology GT700 GameTime 3-D Projector w/ Backpack:
Colors are awesome, bright and clear even with a 12' x 8' (that's feet people) picture.
Plug and play, the projector is basically ready to go out of the box. You just need to have the rest of your equipment ready to go. I use this for my home entertainment system. Threw it up on a white wall without a screen and love it. I'm sure it's even better if I paint my wall that "silver screen" paint. It'll hook up to my lap top, but I have not had the opportunity to do this yet.
Biggest problem, and it's a big problem actually, NO ADJUSTMENT FOR PICTURE SIZE. There is a focus ring, to make the image clearer, but nothing to change the throw rate on my wall. Basically the further back the projector the bigger the image. I had to flip it upside down (there's a setting to adjust the image properly afterward) and hang it from my ceiling because when I place it on the top of my book shelf I couldn't get half the picture off my ceiling. There may be some option to adjust if I hook it up to my lap top, but like I said, I haven't had the opportunity to do this yet; especially now that it hangs from my living room ceiling.

The product gives wonderful performance.
The only drawback is that it does not have manual or digital zoom, and thus you must put it in the right distance from the screen.

I definitely recommend this to you. I originally bought the GT720 from [...], but cost me more than 100! The quality is similar! The speaker is nice too. Enough for us to enjoy the xbox kinect games and some movies. So much easier than having a TV. (another good thing about it is to buy it online from B&H, save us time and money!)

Comments about Optoma Technology GT700 GameTime 3-D Projector w/ Backpack:
I am using this projector strictly for flight simulation gaming sometimes running continuosly for over 6 hrs & with no doubt it serves me 100% with its ability to throw a huge 240x150cm image that is beautifully vibrant, colorful and incredibly bright from a mere distance of 1.7m. I have used lower resolution projectors in the past for this purpose and in comparision I am more than satisfied with the 1280x800 resolution that delivers a crisp image in any condition and the best thing is not noticing any pixelation like you would expect with that image size.
With all the features that are packed in most projectors these days. It doesn't really have anything to stand out except they are very responsive. I would've liked to see a manual/digital zoom functionality which this projector lacks and requires good precision with distance during instalation. Remote could've been made smaller and thinner. But thats just nitpicking. I gave it 4 stars only because it doesn't have manual/digital zoom.
