This little original magnetic baby is great for the pocket video cameras (Flip, Bloggie, Kodak Zi8 or your point and shoot. It's great for the "let's take a picture of us" pic when nobody else is around.
One great use I found was taking video of my poor tennis technique. Wrap it around the fence or stick it to the tennis court light pole and you have a great pod for your video critique. And it holds tight, even in a semi-heavy wind.

It can be wrapped around anything reasonably sized and holds like crazy. I put it on top of my car and it snapped onto the steel and permitted Christmas light photos I couldn't get with a tripod on muddy ground.

I purchased this tripod for a camera at my work and loved it so I purchased one to use for my camera. It is not nearly as easy to setup and adjust as many other tripods but, it's a great tripod to have because you can secure it to just about anything.

Comments about Joby Gorillapod Magnetic (Black):
My camera weighs 5.2 oz. This tripod stuck to the strip of metal that finishes corners of drywall with my camera on it, stretched out as far as I could get it to. In an earthquake, it might fall off, but for ad hoc video or timer shots, it's perfect. The magnetic feet are rubberized and stick to nonferrous surfaces at respectable angles. It's also easy to wrap around objects, metal or not. I would like a bubble level clip for it, I'll have to find out if the SLR one is compatible.

Easy to use, stable and most of all, versatile, this product is excellent choice for my travel P&S camera. Magnets are helping to setup the camera in the most awkward places for unusual POVs.

Have bought in conjunction with the Canon g12 power-shot so it's the correct size. The magnetic feet are wonderful as it helps positioning and stability especially when doing 'Tilt & Shift' filming.
Being a lighting cameraman by profession, the best shots you can get from any camera are the shots not at eye level. I bought this tripod while in New York on holiday from England and got great 'street level' and ground shots of the metro and yellow cabs. Also when i was up in the Empire State building, the shots were awesome. ALso used it on the Circle line Ferry around Manhattan and it was there that the grip and metallic feet came into there own
Light, easy to position and use. Perfect for filming. Essential

Didn't really know what to expect with this little contraption, but I must say that it is way cool. For one, it is easy to carry, easy to adjust, can pop on a camera (has a quick clip that comes with this pod) and take pics. Very reliable tripod on the ground, but where this really shines is "sticking" it things that are magnetic. I was a reluctant to do so at first, but these magnets are pretty strong! When they stick, they are on. You have to pull with moderate force just to remove them from the surface.
Overall, a great buy. Definitely recommend.

I am very happy with it! The magnets are awesome! I'm so glad I choose this one over the one without magnetic feet! It holds the camera extremely steady and is great for filming as well as photos!

I wanted a small versatile tripod for my small digital camera which takes great macro shots. I reviewed all the Gorillapod tripods since I have a Gorillapod LED light. This one had a quick release feature (I love this) and the magnetic feet (expands the versatility) and is priced right. I have already used it and it works great. Not for SLR size cameras or video cameras, but great for pocket sized cameras. They make larger sizes for heavier cameras, but I don't think they have the magnetic feet. This is what I needed.
